Atlas UI enhancement
Hi,
Atlas UI is displaying "Database Deployments" earlier it used to be as cluster or clusters.
- When we hit the create button all it talks about "CLUSTERS > CREATE NEW CLUSTER"
- Right side top corner, we can also see it states "All Clusters"
- Terraform resources/attributes talks about Clusters
- Only place we see in the home page "Database Deployments"
Our customers are getting confused with Database Deployments with Databases within the clusters. Customers are thinking they need to create more database (database deployments) if they want to have for their application, which is not true. They can create multiple database in…

Support for AWS China (Beijing/Ningxia) regions
Please make Atlas available in AWS's Beijing/Ningxia regions. This is important to due to China's internet restrictions to achieve the best possible performance/latency for our Mainland China customers.

disabling mongo user
Instead of completely removing a Mongo database user, its better if there is option to disable user so that if there is any untoward incident we can enable it back. After observing for some time, we can delete/disable the user based on organization requirements. Its useful in some cases like mongo db user returned to same department after some time .

Automatically detect location for Global Clusters
Currently Global Clusters require a location field for zone targeting. Could the user get an option to be auto-detected based on the incoming connection? The reason for this is, not all app services have the ability to include location, so would be good to auto-detect it.

Expose API for Self-Service Increase of the Clusters per Project Limit
Give Atlas users the ability to increase the number of clusters they can create in a single project above the 25 cluster limit without having to file a support ticket.

Need new redundancy node type
Atlas requires that the use of Private Service Connect for a geo-replicated cluster, requires PSC to be configured in all regions that cluster is in.
The best practice for a DR configuration in Atlas is to have a 2-2-1 configuration over 3 regions so that the cluster fails over automatically in the case of a region outage and there is no split-brain possibility.
The applications themselves really only need to be in 2 regions. The requirement for a PSC in the 3rd region, along with a customer-side project to host that connection is wasteful. This situation is especially problematic in…

Ability to choose a Primary shard for newly created database
In a multi tenant architecture, the isolation of a tenant on a specific shard (when database sharding is involved) is expected. At this time, the ability to choose a Primary shard for newly created database would come in handy

Copy/Duplicate Cluster configuration
It would be really useful to create a new cluster based on an existing configuration.
Snapshots are supposed to be loaded into clusters of the same configuration, but having to set up the configuration manually is prone to human error. Having an option to copy the cluster configuration would be helpful.
Support suggested the following workarounds, but the option should really exist in the UX, given that snapshots can be taken and loaded in the UX.
- use the API to create all clusters so that the config exists in code
- use terraform to create clusters3 votes -
Multiple connection URLs for Atlas clusters
Allow generation of multiple application-specific connection strings/URIs to the same Atlas cluster. This would ease migration of databases to different clusters over time; consolidating smaller databases to lower costs, or separating busier databases to isolate performance impact.
Multiple connection strings will allow us to redirect connections seamlessly when migrating databases without requiring developers to re-deploy changes to application connection strings, minimizing downtime and coordination.

Implement AWS transit gateway support
VPC peering and Private Endpoints have limitations that make them unusable in some environments. Implementing native transit gateway support would allow admins with hybrid infrastructures and strict security requirements to control routing and security at a lower level then is currently supported.
VPC peers do not support pass through routing, so organizations that use transit gateways to attach IPSEC tunnels or other external networks to AWS are unable to access atlas servers via these peer connections.
Private Endpoints do allow connectivity in these cases, but cause an additional layer of expense, complexity, and reduced security. First, the "user" side still…

Download file button for GridFS on Atlas GUI
When using the "Browse Collection" feature from the Atlas Web frontend it would be nice to be able to download/view files stored in GridFS. Tools like "Studio3T" or "NoSQLBooster for MongoDB" support that use case.

TDE Encryption Key automatically rotation
when we got the alert like "Azure encryption key needs rotation", we need connected to our it team and they rotated the key in azure key vault then they shared us the value of new Key Identifier, then we logged into atlas and under security-->Advanced under that we updated the Key Identifier under Encryption at Rest using your Key Management option, all these steps we were done manually.
Is it possible to rotate/update the key automatically, when the key is rotated in azure key vault, without doing it manually.

Add filters for easily finding projects that have encryption/audit enabled in the UI
The https://cloud.mongodb.com/v2#/clusters has certain filters to get specific Atlas clusters. Can we add couple of more filters that can easily identify, whether that project has been enabled for encryption at rest or if the auditing has been enabled/disabled. This will help us easily generate reports for cis20 reporting.

Allow --removeAutoIndexId option to Atlas live migration as default
Apparently Atlas live migration does not support --removeAutoIndexId option due to which some collections having
autoIndexId set to false
does not allow live migration to work successfully. Please add --removeAutoIndexId option to live migration.1 vote -
Feedback and public roadmap.
I have voted and written since 2020 several improvement ideas for your platform.
Being a client for a major insurance company, I'm disappointed to see that for several suggestions dating back more than 12 months, it doesn't even seem to have been looked at by your team.
It would be more than interesting to have an idea for your roadmap as well as a dynamic management of the catalog of ideas (feedback) maintained by your customers.
I consider this a lack of respect for your users and customers.

API for Granting Infrastructure Access to MongoDB Support for 24 Hours
As per documentation at https://www.mongodb.com/docs/atlas/security-restrict-support-access/#grant-infrastructure-access-to-mongodb-support-for-24-hours one can grant access for support for 24h only via the UI. It would be very useful to be able to do this via the Atlas API.

Reshard Global Writes Collections
MongoDB supports resharding, so not being able to change the global writes shard configuration is very strange. It makes it impossible to fix mistakes with the shard configuration. Even if it requires blocking to redo or remove the shard configuration it should be possible.
