Atlas backup to second region
We would like the option to have our Atlas backups automatically copied to a 2nd region to support our DR initiative. I realize we could create a live database node in a 2nd region, but that is more costly and complex. Having the backup sync to another region that we can restore off of in case the primary region fails would be simpler and more cost effective.
Is this something that is on your roadmap, and if so, when will it be released?
Thanks!

The team is actively working on this capability now: stay tuned for an update soon!

Any news on this? It would be a very useful for those trying to ensure robust BCDR plans.

Any news about the feature?
We see a preview 6 month ago. Are you near to lauch this feature soon?

This is an important feature to have and the users would get benefitted from this. Looking forward to having this in near future.

Would like to see this option. We are wanting to protect backup snapshots for a DR scenario without having to provision a cross-region cluster.

Specifically taking backups in a secondary region, rather than copying the snapshots across to another region. This would enable nodes in the highest priority region to all have the same priority.

This would be a truly time-saving feature. Otherwise, each customer has to roll their own.

Any news about adding this feature in Roadmap ? Today we know some datacenter can burn like OVHCLOUD SBG. We need to protect our data against any major failure. Thanks

This is an important security requirement. Right now Cloud backups only create backups in the same region as the data replica itself. It would be a nice improvement to support backups in different regions in the same country.

This is definitely needed and I'm a bit surprised it doesn't exist already!

This is a much needed feature for DR. Are there any work around anyone is using.
I am thinking about scripts to download backups and push them to S3.

I would want to be able to independently configure the scheduling of this; e.g. so we could schedule the 2nd-region copies to be much less frequent in order to avoid too much egress bandwidth.

We need this functionnality in case of DR. My MongoDB solution architecte recommande us to vote here for this function.
Like asked by Kyle. Is it in the roadmap for cluster on Azure?
