  1. Improvements for Datadog integration

Some parameters for Datadog are not configurable in Ops Manager. For example, "tagging". Adding this functionality would make using Datadog easier.

  2. Use separate tls.crt and tls.key items in a kubernetes secret for certificates instead of a combined item named server.pem for a MondoDB rep

There should be a way to use separate tls.crt and tls.key items in a kubernetes secret for certificates instead of a combined item named server.pem.

We request our certs using cert-manager which generates secrets from the cert CRD and will get auto renewed every so often. These secrets have 2 items, tls.crt and tls.key.

So far the only way I have seen to enable tls is to combine these 2 items and rename it into a new secret in kubernetes as item called server.pem. This however means that when a cert auto renews that the wrong secret…

    planned  ·  Andrey responded

Support for Cert Manager as well as support for separate crt and key is on a roadmap.
We will look into updating our docs to describe cert rotation.

  3. Warn if deploying changes would require rolling restart

When reviewing changes in automation, warn if deploying changes will require a rolling restart.

As an example, look at the documentation for server parameters: https://docs.mongodb.com/manual/reference/parameters/

Many parameters include the description "You can only set THIS during start-up", but a warning that setting this parameter implies restarting MongoDB is missing from Ops Manager (or Cloud Manager).

  4. Using Ops Manager, I want to get an alert when a collection is a certain size or near no storage so that I can do an investigation

As a DBA using Ops Manager, I want to get an alert when a collection is a certain size or near no storage so that I can do an investigation to see if there is abnormal data growth. As of right now, I can only monitor cluster data size.

  5. Delete indexes by Cloud Manager API

With the Cloud Manger API it is possible to create new indexes. But there is no possibility to delete indexes by the Cloud Manger API.

  6. Support Azure blob storage with Ops Manager Backups

    Hello,

This is a request for Ops Manager to support Azure blob storage as a snapshot store. Currently the following snapshot store options are supported: blockstore, AWS S3 bucket, File System Store.

While it may be possible to use an S3 API to communicate between Ops Manager and Azure blob storage, thereby storing Ops Manager backups in Azure, this workaround is not officially supported by MongoDB and is thus risky to implement.

  7. avoid generating alert with error message if one oplog node in replicaset got rebooted.

currently if one of the node in appdb/oplogdb goes down for any reasons (for example, linux patch rebooting the node), ops manager generates alert

"Ops Manager was unable to connect to this database and run the ping command. The database could be down, unreachable, or running with authencation and Ops Manager does not have adequate permissions."

there are still 2 other running nodes in replicaset. so this alert is misleading and generates false alarms.

  8. Add compound indexes support for Ops Manager managed Sharding

What is the problem that needs to be solved? Ops Manager Automation does not take into account compound indexes (https://docs.mongodb.com/manual/core/index-compound/), e.g. if we have { a: 1, b: 1 } index already exist Ops Manager will still create { a: 1 } index for a Shard Key.

Why is it a problem? (the pain) This creates unnecessary indexes with performance impact on the MongoDB Server process.

  9. Enablement of Ops Manager Auditing similar to MongoDB's

    Hi all

We would like to enable auditing for activities in Ops Manger itself, getting the information directly using the default audit logging options (filesystem / syslog).

Currently we are getting the detailed information in OpsManager, we get some information in the audit.log log when config changes are made via Ops Manager, but not in detail what exactly had been modified in the log files.

To establish a holistic, company wide auditing spanning over all levels (OS / DB / Application) taking use of standard auditing tools this would be highly beneficial.

    Regards, Roger

  10. Reset duplicates button for Ops Manager Admin System overview page

Sometimes customer want to clean up the System Overview page and/or the application db from because:
    - They dismissed one or more Ops Manager server running Application servers or backup daemon components
    - Their hostnames / domains have changed over the time
    - Their hostnames have changed from lowercase to capital letters or vice versa because upgrading Ops Manager brought a JVM providing different values for getHostname() (this happens often in Windows environment).

It would be nice to have a button or at least an API call similar to the project reset duplicates that forces Ops Manager to refresh the…

  11. Allow informational alerts to be sent to PagerDuty

Right now informational alerts can't go to PagerDuty, OpsGenie, or VictorOps. Ideally all alert notifications should go to the same endpoint, even if those alerts are "informational" and no acknowledgement is required.

  12. MongoDB Operator Deployment Env Variables Push Down

This is a feature request to have custom environment variables, configured in the MongoDB Operator's Deployment manifest, push down or propagate to all resources created by the Operator.

For example, it may be desired to add environment variables with context. A more specific example could include setting a TZ timezone environment variable that is automatically added to all pod containers created by the Operator.

  13. mongomirror compatibility with SRV strings

It would be ideal if the mongomirror utility could accept SRV-based connection strings for the source and destination clusters. The inability to do this can cause pain for customers. For example, this does not work:

    --destination "mongodb+srv://mgo-aura-dgs-prdsrv-tk-pl-0.yrmiy.mongodb.net"

So users are stuck doing this:

    --destination "atlas-nkaylx-shard-0/pl-0-ap-northeast-1.yrmiy.mongodb.net:1036,pl-0-ap-northeast-1.yrmiy.mongodb.net:1037,pl-0-ap-northeast-1.yrmiy.mongodb.net:1038"

    Two issues with that:
    1. It's painful looking up the host/port and atlas defined replica set name
    2. The destination info is unreadable by most humans. The service name (i.e. SRV record connstring) includes the name of the cluster that the customer defined, and not the random has that Atlas generates

  14. Create a User in a Single Cluster

When multiple clusters are added into an Ops Manager project, the only way to create a user account is to add it to all of the clusters in the project and to then add server IP Address restrictions to prevent the user from logging into servers other than the intended cluster. This would still create the user account on all of the clusters in the Ops Manager project.

Users would need a way to create a user account on a specific cluster rather than all of the clusters of the project.

  15. There is currently no way to use the UI to search a given hostname at a Global Level within an Ops Manager deployment.

Please provide a feature in OM so we can search globally a given HOSTNAME to know about its related Organization/Replica Set

  16. Ops Manager and Backup infrastracture Disaster Recovery support with K8s Operator

We have carried out tests with MongoDB v1.5.5 K8s Operator and Ops Manager 4.2.18 with Backup infrastructure (S3 Snapshots) in an Openshift 3.11 environment (MongoDB Support case attached).

In this case, a "Disaster Recovery" simulation has been carried out. However, several components created by the Operator had to be restored to obtain a similar state to the one before the "disaster".

Furthermore, it is very likely that the S3 Snapshots will be lost if the process is not completed in a certain manner.

It would be great to have an official approach to deploy/restore an OM resource using MongoDB K8s…

  17. Properties option for a server node

Up until Ops Manager version 4.0+, we are/were able to view "Properties" of all servers/Replica sets by clicking on the ellipsis option on the each server. But will the latest versions of Ops Manager, that option is no longer available. We are often looking to quickly identify the allocated resources such as CPU/RAM on servers to help troubleshoot and deduct if we need to add more resources, so this has been a helpful feature we have used. We would very much like to see this feature option to be revived in the current versions of Ops Manager 4.2 and 4.4.4.

  18. Project template defaults for replica set Attributes

Our standard replica set deployments require a number of items to be set in the edit/modify area of each replica set...such as:
    sslMode
    directoryPerDB
    directoryForIndexes
    javascriptEnabled
    redactClientLogData

Since we create hundreds of replica sets the amount of time spent repeatedly setting these attributes, which are considered "default" in our shop, adds up. Having the ability to set a template of defaults per project would save a great deal of time.

  19. Add to the Continues Backup UI more information about the snapshots

Currently, the Ops Manager UI under Continues Backup only shows the following information about the snapshots:
    - Replica set name
    - Status
    - Last Snapshot
    - Last Oplog Slice

It would be very helpful to also see:
    - Start date/time
    - Finish date/time
    - Backup duration
    - Snapshot size

  20. Manage the MongoDB Agent functions using the operator

Currently, the operator does not enable backup function for AppDB, but it does enable monitoring. For everything else (non-AppDB) the operator does enable the Backup and Monitoring functions, even if backup is not configured

At the moment none of these functions are configurable with the Operator. The only method to disable the Backup or Monitoring function is through the Ops Manager UI.

Requesting the ability to manage the functions through the operator.
