  1. Make snapshot retention policy more customisable

Make the retention policy of Ops Manager snapshots customisable so we can choose custom values (like 21) to be more flexible with the settings.

  2. index review before sharding with OPS Manager

Currently, when you use OPS Manager to shard a collection, it automatically creates a foreground index that exactly matches the sharding key, when such index doesn't exist. When the sharding key column(s) is(are)already prefixing an existing index, it's not sufficent.
This is dangerous in Live environments because the whole database is blocked for a long time (sharded collections are usually big collections).
So, several features could exist :
    - before continuing with sharding, OPS Manager warns that it needs to create this foreground index first. You can stop if you don't agree (and create this index by yourself first).
    -…

  3. Do not download EOL releases

Currently our Ops Mgrs keep re-downloading EOL releases of mongodb, e.g. mongodb-linux-x8664-2.6.12, mongodb-linux-x8664-3.0.15, etc. Ops Manager should automatically exclude EOL releases - they are taking up unnecessary disk space.

  4. Ops Manager API call for Host Mappings

This feature request is for a new Group/Project API call for the management of the host mappings created in Ops Manager from monitoring information. Whether it be an endpoint for "Reset Duplicates" or full featured create/delete of individual host mappings, both will alleviate issues where overlapping mappings affect monitoring in Ops Manager.

Note: The issue of overlapping mappings may occur when a mongod process has moved/changed IP addresses multiple times. With enough cycling (as seen in Kubernetes clusters with frequent pod restarts), eventually a previously mapped IP address may now be associated with a different mongod process.

  5. Repilca Set Election - Even Number of Nodes

WE have a 4 node replica set and when we removed 2 of the nodes at one time the election process didn't know how to elect a new primary. We would like the election process to accommodate an even number of replica set nodes.

  6. FCV 4.2 backup snapshot progress description UI issue

In the "Continuous Backup" when a FCV 4.2 backup snapshot is in progress the progress label text can be too long to be displayed:

    Sync:
Transferring - Snapshot received XXXMB of YYYMB from zzz/www files over N hrs (xxx kB/s). Overall progress - XX %

The CSS currently has overflow: hidden so the text that doesn't fit the table cell in the page is hidden.

The only way to see the complete status is enlarging the browser window or zoom out the page.

Please improve the page by improving the CSS style of this page, for example by enabling text…

  7. integration with Mattermost for notifications

It would be good to replicate the integration with Slack but using Mattermost. Mattermost is open source and allows the companies to deploy their own messaging server. Some organizations are moving from Slack to Mattermost for this reason.

  8. Disable the dropdown to add Agent functions on hosts that don't have the MongoDB Agent installed and were only imported for Backup/Monitori

Disable the dropdown to add Agent functions on hosts that don't have the MongoDB Agent installed and were only imported for Backup/Monitoring.
The elipsis (...) selections to add Monitoring & Backup Agent functions are available on hosts without the MongoDB Agent. If selected the function appears on the host as grey and standby. This is misleading. The options should not be available on hosts without the MongoDB Agent.

  10. Attain granularity on the Ops manager backups & restore

Backups:Under a project, in a single cluster we may deploy multiple databases which belongs to different applications that are somehow interlinked in terms of their functionality. Different databases requires different backup strategies, retention periods, and so different snapshot schedules. However, the level of granularity on Ops Manager "Continuous Backup" doesn't match the above requirement.

Restore: How could we restore a single collection, or a database without touching the other databases/collections within a cluster? The restore process that we have today seems to be restoring the whole cluster and not to the level of database/collection. Queryable backup snapshot seems to be…

  12. MongoDB CR should support topologySpreadConstraints

As PodAntiAffinity does not really give enough flexibility in achieving High Availability and enforcing distribution across nodes, it should be possible to add topologySpreadConstraints to the podSpec (of both ShardedCluster and other deployment types). As of now topologySpreadConstraints are ignored by the Operator.

    https://kubernetes.io/docs/concepts/workloads/pods/pod-topology-spread-constraints/#comparison-with-podaffinity-podantiaffinity

  13. Remote Address and Remote Port information shold be provided as part of the Public API global events for all DATA_EXPLORER_CRUD

When requesting Audit events using the Public API Global events,
not all events provide the Remote Address and Remote Port.

some commands like "find" does present the Remote Port/IP, but others such as updateDocument, insertDocument and deleteDocument do not.

the info is there so why some events present it and some don't?

is it possible to formulate a unify base fields for all events that will include the Remote Address, Remote Port?

    Thanks

  14. Connect Tab in UI should show a replica set (instead of a host) connection string if deployment is a replica set

I have a 3-node replica set deployment. When I retrieve the connection string to the cluster via OM UI, it shows a single node connection string

    mongo --host ip-10-0-200-4.eu-west-2.compute.internal --port 27017

I expect it should show a connection string which includes all hostnames, or something equivalent, if deployment is a replica set.

  15. More fine granular OpsManger roles for API CRUD operations

More fine granular OpsManger roles for API CRUD operations

In order to generate API Keys users need some pretty powerful role https://docs.opsmanager.mongodb.com/current/reference/api/org-api-keys/. Same for project API Keys https://docs.opsmanager.mongodb.com/current/reference/api/project-api-keys/.

Our understanding is that user who can create api keys could also self promote themselves to super admins which is something we don't want and would be a security concern to us. (And admins normally have access to far more things than just user mgmt)

Additionally it would be beneficial to pass in an desired api key - e.g. for initial provisioning and give admins the chance to reset/rotate an…

  16. Incorporate Support CASE management into the OPS Manager, i.e. open a case, upload traces to the case etc

Incorporate Support CASE management into the OPS Manager, i.e. open a case, upload required traces to the case and maybe even automatically create a support case for some critical problems.... Minimally I'd like to be able to upload required traces directly from sevrer(s) using wget/curl functionality and attach the upload files to the existing support case(s).

  17. Add MongoSparkHelper native support for pyspark

I went through Mongo spark connector python documentation but the thing which I could not find in python documentation was "MongoSpark Helper" section which is available in scala and java documentation.
I was wondering if there is a way to use it in python code after adding the mongo spark connector packages.

A sample code to demonstrate what is available and what I am looking for (this code is in scala and I am looking for a similar behavior in python)

    Code in use:
    sparkSession.read.format("mongo").option("uri", "mongodb://dummymongo:27017")

    Code looking for:
    MongoSpark.builder().connector(connectorwithcustomclientfactory)
    .sparkSession(sparkSession).readConfig(dummyReadConfig).build().toDF()

  18. Webpage session expiry - introduce inactivity timeout

Currently one can specify a "Session Max Hours" - The number of hours before a website session expires and a user must login again.
This should be replaced or enhanced with an "Inactivity timeout".
We have the requirement to set a timeout due to PCI.
However with the current implementation I have to re-login to the website even when working actively with OPS Manager. An inactivity timeout would allow to be logged out when I am not working on the OPS Manager, but not whilst working with it.

  19. View all clusters grouped by projects (like in Ops Manager)

There doesn't seem to be an equivalent for Ops Manager All Clusters page in Cloud Manager. It is a good way to quickly glance over all cluster states, stats and versions.
    Can it be added?

  20. mongocli feature request: whitelist with timeout on current ip to allow temporary mongoshell access from temporary locations

Please add a timeout parameter to the mongocli whitelist command.
Presently, we have to login via web browser to enable temporary mongoshell access from temporary locations.
