  1. Add Ops Manager check to prevent making backups of itself (Backing databases - AppDB, Oplog, Blockstore)

    Otherwise, an Out Of Memory condition may result and disable Ops Manager.

  2. Allow Ops Manager users to move/migrate backup job snapshots from one S3 bucket to a different S3 bucket

    Ops Manager users with S3 blockstores may need to move snapshots and backup jobs to a new S3 bucket. For MongoDB blockstores, this is accomplished using a groom.

  4. MongoDB Agent (Automation Module): don't attempt to auth with `__system` (SCRAM) user when `security.clusterAuthMode` is set to `x509`

    Problem Statement,
    What is the problem? MongoDB Agent (Automation Module) attempts to auth with __system (SCRAM) user when security.clusterAuthMode is set to x509.

    Why is this a problem? MongoDB Server process logs are flooded by unnecessary noise from such MongoDB Agent (Automation Module) failed auth attempts.

  6. Ops Manager Prometheus metrics

    MongoDB Ops Manager would need to expose endpoints for Prometheus for MongoDB Clusters. There are a number of metrics that popular MongoDB Exporters do not provide, for example:
    1. Enterprise Backup status
    2. Replication Alarms
    3. Agent statuses
    4. A number of Cluster statuses
    etc

    There is no way to get this data into Prometheus at the moment

  7. Restore Backup Snapshots to Sharded Clusters via mongos

    Migrating large sharded clusters to a different cluster pre-sharded with different shard keys requires a significant amount of time to balance post-restore.

    This is a feature request to restore a snapshot on a per document basis through a mongos. The desired result is a completed restore with collections/documents residing on their target shards.

  9. Ability to send SNMPv3 Alert Traps for configured Ops Manager Alerts

    What is the problem that needs to be solved? Ops Manager Alerts should have possibility to send SNMPv3 Alert Traps to configured destinations. SNMPv3 provides better authentication, data encryption and message integrity in comparison to SNMPv2c protocol.

    Why is it a problem? (the pain) It is mandatory to use SNMPv3 in many enterprise deployments as SNMPv2c does plaintext community string authentication without encryption (SNMPv3 does MD5/SHA1 hashing for passwords and provides encryption for SNMP data).

  10. Add 4.4 tool to PATH

    Since MongoDB 4.4 the tools are located in another folder that is not included in the automation agent bash profile:

    [root@n1 mongodb-mms-automation]# cat /etc/profile.d/mongodb-mms-automation-agent.sh
    export PATH=/var/lib/mongodb-mms-automation/bin:${PATH}

    Would be nice to have also the mongo tools in the path

  11. Install Managed MongoDB Processes as Services in Linux

    In Windows, managed MongoDB processes are installed as services. In Linux, they are not. It would be great if managed processes were installed as services so that system administrators would have better control over startup and shutdown behavior, among other things.

    In Ops Manager ,Whenever we do changes in the configuration the deployed mongodb instnaces ,GUI prompt for Review & Deploy ,If we have a provision for schduling the deployment in later time would fullfil the real Automation.


    • Do the changes at convenient time

    • Do deploy thru a schedulers

  14. Automation - Improve import for automation when keyfile doesn't match

    Starting with MongoDB 4.2 we are able to rotate the internal authentication keyfiles in a rolling fashion with the procedure described here:

    Currently when you import for automation a cluster that is using a different keyfile than the one in the automation config a bouncerestart is triggered. We can avoid it by doing a rolling rotation of the keyfile.

    The old keyfile should be kept and the new one appended to it in a rolling fashion. We may have already this implemented for the "Rotate keyfile" feature present in the Security tab page.

  15. Send alert when RECOVERING node has failed due to being too stale to sync from any available node

    Ops Manager users with hundreds or even thousands of replica set members (hosts/nodes) need an alert that indicates a nodes is in RECOVERING state and is too far behind the oplog to recover without manual intervention. This information is present in the mongod log file. However, Ops Manager should generate a separate alert for this unique and important state. Without this alert, it is not immediately clear when a user needs take action to bring a replica set back to a healthy state.

  16. Periodically notify users of unused versions located in versions directory

    As a safety measure for admins in Ops Manager to avoid facing issues due to unnecessary disk occupation under the Ops Manager installation directory:

    Send periodic notifications (configurable) i.e: once a month; to notify what binaries are not being used by none of the components in their environment so they can evaluate to delete them in order to free up space on their Ops Manager servers.

  17. Allow configuring Ops Manager to ignore proxy for internal requests

    A very common Enterprise HTTP Proxy configuration is to deny requests from local networks (10.0.0.0/8, 172.16.0.0/12, 192.168.0.0/16).

    In hybrid mode, the Backup Mode attempts to download the binaries from itself locally through the proxy. This brings to errors as the proxy is blocking the local traffic.

  18. Add hostname/port attributes into all Cluster/Replica Set alert types

    What is the problem that needs to be solved? Add hostname/port attributes into all Cluster/Replica Set alert types generated via SNMP Alert Traps, Ops Manager's Public API calls (Project/Global Alerts) and Alert Webhooks (Project/Global Alerts).

    Why is it a problem? (the pain) Hostname/port attributes are currently missed in Cluster/Replica Set alert types and we only provide a name of the Cluster/Replica Set for which the alert was generated. Operator who watch Monitoring System (the one that receive Ops Manager Alerts) needs to see hostname/port information of a Shard/Replica Set for which such alert was generated, in order to quickly understand…

    Currently, Ops Manager does not support stop/start/restart BI Connector that is managed by Ops Manager Automation. There is only a Terminate option available.
