Please bring Atlas to digital ocean PaaS as a first class offering!
Hey there,
I know it's hard for big companies to get along, but I'd love to have a seamless experience for using MongoDB alongside DO's new PaaS offering. Can you all strike a deal please?

allow for renaming and moving of collections and databases on server
Right now it is difficult to rename and move databases and collections without downloading and re-uploading them.
Please enable this critical functionality as it's very common to need this when administering data.

Ideally migration of terraform state should be handled or provide a tool for migrating state
Hello,
We initially rolled out all our clusters with mongo atlas terraform provider version 0.7.0. Since we hadn't pinned the version, we started seeing warning listed below in the terraform plan.Updating as indicated based on the warning means, a deletion and recreation of the private endpoint/link related resources which will lead to downtime as the cluster will be inaccessible while the private endpoint/link is being recreated.
Ideally migration of terraform state should be handled or provide a tool for migrating state so the resource can be migrated without recreation.

billing
The billing invoice is split by project. If we have multiple team in the same project, it a puzzle. We need to bill by cluster in this case.

Via API call invite existing atlas user & assigne them to project & teams
in are organization we want user to have a self serve service that allow them to create project, cluster ,etc ...
for now we can only automate half of the process, because we need the web UI to invite user & wait that they approve the invitation before assigning them to project.
It would be great than we could, via API call, invite user & assign them to project or team without having to use manual process & wait for user to acknowledge the invitation
thanks

Correct DNS lookup with cross-region peering connection
A cross-region peering connection, say from an Atlas cluster in us-east-1 to some application running in eu-west-1, should allow the application to connect to the Atlas cluster through the peering connection. However, the DNS names of the cluster, e.g. my-cluster-shard-00-00.abx.mongodb.net, resolve to the public IP address of the cluster's node when looked up in eu-west-1. As a result, the application doesn't route the connection through the peering connection but rather tries to route it through the public Internet.
The solution is to manually find the private IP of each mongo node, and add an entry in /etc/hosts for each. This…

Number of times particular index used in last 24 hours.
It is really helpful to get use of indexes in numbers in last 24 hours to eastimate the use of particular index.

Recently resumed clusters must remain running for 60 minutes
At the moment when you try to pause a recently resumed cluster you get the following message;"Recently resumed clusters must remain running for 60 minutes to process all queued maintenance".
Obviously this requires me to check back in Atlas UI in an hour or so just to pause the cluster. Instead would be good for UI to schedule a Pause to be executed as soon as it's possible.

Log browser and log search capability across replicaset nodes.
Currently to search through logs we have to download them and search through each log. It would be helpful to have a log browser capability that would allow us to look through and search all logs from the Atlas portal interface.

Ability to Drop Indexes via API
Allow users to not only add indexes via the API, but also allow them to drop indexes the same way. Also incorporate index creation/deletion into Terraform.

Make session timeout in Atlas UI configurable
Session timeout value in Atlas UI defaults at 12h. Allow it to be configurable per Project or Organization, with the minimum value being 15 minutes. All Atlas users within an organization that have been idle for the duration of the configured session timeout should be automatically logged out.

Allow Atlas User Data Access Permissions to be configured on a per-database/collection basis
Similarly to how database user data access permissions can be configured on a per-database or per-collection basis, it would be ideal if Atlas user data access permissions (as they apply to Data Explorer) could be configured on a more granular basis as well.

Cloud backup to new cluster
Two different ideas for this:
-When building a new cluster having the option to build it using a cloud backup snapshot for DR when a cluster is down-Same idea to restore to a new cluster but from the restore target dropdown IE Restore to New cluster which opens the create a cluster workflow with the cloudbackup snapshot section populated

Profiler should only watch queries from certain users
It would be useful to provide the profiler an "allowlist" and "denylist" of users to watch queries from. Essentially, it is only useful to receive alerts and profiler reports for queries made by actual applications. It is not useful to have alerts show up for one-off queries made by a DB admin using a DB explorer.

Improve 2FA and auth management
Right now, there is no way to require Google auth or to require 2FA. The only way to enforce 2FA for a team is to check the team mangagement page. However, since some users may have only used Google auth to login, they will show up in this view as not having 2FA, creating auditing headaches. Please
- indicate if a user does not have 2fa because they do not have a password vs just not having 2fa
- ideally, add the ability to require 2fa and/or Google auth for all team members10 votes -
Add a monitoring that always shows the current primary
When there's an election and the primary changes, it's hard to get a good view on how does the primary functions in a macro fashion.
Please add a monitoring column (or an equivalent solution) that can show the monitoring information for the primary at the time, so I could look at the past month or so, and see how does the primary performed, even if it was a different server every time. This will make it much easier to understand various actions we take like changing indexes, improving queries, upgrading the database version, upgrading the driver, etc.

Allow more aggressive downscaling of clusters
Autoscaling clusters down a tier doesn't seem to work very well. Even under rather low memory usage, it doesn't seem like the procedure really ever triggers.

Allow me to stay logged in for a long period of time
I access Mongo Cloud / Atlas very frequently. However, almost every day I need to re-login using my Google account. It doesn't seem to "remember" my session.
I would love if I can extend the default, and let me (and other members) stay logged in for a longer period of time.12 votes
