    Thanks for the suggestion Priyanka. We are currently adding the ability to add a description to a chart, which can include rich text and hyperlinks.

    You might also consider voting for this issue (which also has a possible workaround): https://feedback.mongodb.com/forums/923524-charts/suggestions/38670916-ability-to-add-plain-text

    There is a workaround for this, but it's very clunky. The idea is to use the query bar so that there is only a single document, with a field that contains the heading or text that you want to display. Then create a "Top Item" chart type, using that field.

    1. Pick any Data Source (which has at least 1 document in it).
    2. Use a pipeline like this in the Query bar:

    [
    { $limit: 1 },
    { $project: {
    _id: 0,
    info: { $literal: "Text you want to display goes in here. This could be short for a heading, or longer for an explanation. Unfortunately newlines/paragraph breaks aren't possible, not any sort of text formatting or markup." },
    } },
    ]

    3. Choose "Top Item" Chart Type.
    4. Use the "info" field for the Sort.
    5. Use the "info" field for the Display.
    6. Go to Customize -> General -> Label Size, and adjust if desired.
    7. Go to Customize -> Fields -> Display -> "info", and override the Label if desired. If you want to get rid of the label, put a single space character.
    8. Save and resize the Chart accordingly on your dashboard.

    Ideally not just plain text, but something more expressive like markdown or similar.

    I also wish there was a "Colored discrete/continuous line" chart type, and had to jump through hoops with series to get the result I was looking for. There are "Colored bar" and "Colored column" charts, so "Colored line" would be a natural sibling of them.

    Thanks for the suggestion - we've actually already started work on this. We'll also move the "create sample dashboard" to the same place, and allow you to invoke it whether or not you have existing dashboards.

    +100, the current grid size is too large. There are many times when I wish I could set a chart to "halfway" in the current grid, which would make it much easier to get a pleasing arrangement of charts in my dashboard.

    It would also be useful to be able to control the major/minor tics.

    I also second being able to set min/max font sizes, sometimes I want to tell the chart to always show the category name, no matter how small it might be, because that's better than omitting every second or third category. Currently I have to tweak the size of the chart to ensure that everything shows up as it should, and it's a pain. eg. I might need to make the chart longer than the height of my monitor, to make vertical space for category names on a bar chart - but then if I full-screen that chart, the height is only the height of my monitor, which paradoxically results in seeing less information.

    Also the Customize section is a bit confusing. I invariably go to Axes when I should go to Fields, and to Fields when I should go to Axes. Also the dropdowns-inside-collapsable-scrollable-sections regularly befuddles my brain.

    If all that's desired is to hide the axis label, then a workaround is to override the label and put a single space (or no-break space) character. However, this still wastes the space to display the (empty) label.

    Currently charts only "float" upwards, and not also "leftwards" (like they used to). However it would still be useful to be able to disable this behaviour.

    When trying to arrange charts in a dashboard it's reasonably common to want to arrange them in a way that makes logical sense, and sometimes the alignment is important for comparison purposes. But in the worst case, the floating behaviour can require using non-optimal chart sizes, or adding deliberately blank "strut" charts whose sole purpose is to pad out space (which is confusing for viewers, who think that that chart is broken, rather than deliberately blank).
