  1. Kubernetes reconcilation interval

Kubernetes resources generally should be reconciled on a sensible schedule to prevent configuration drift between k8s and Atlas API.

AtlasProject is a critical one that can have widespread impact if API configuration drifts from Kubernetes and is not promptly corrected.

  2. DataDog integration: add metrics for any current resource limits

We're using the DataDog integration to bring MongoDB metrics to DataDog. We want to re-create a DataDog monitor which is an equivalent to Altas alert "Connections of configured limit has gone above <>". However, we cannot do that relying solely on metrics, since the only connection related metric we found is "mongodb.atlas.connections.current".
It looks like the only way to solve this issue is to create a DataDog monitor based on the received event from Atlas.

  3. Exponential Backoff

    Exponential Backoff:

Data come from AWS event bridge, connection issues happened
Exponential backoff would have helped that that this connection issues are recognized and the customer would not have intervened manually.
There was no alarm once trigger was suspended - an automatic alarming would have been helpful.

  4. Duplication detection

One of our custmoers would like to see duplication detection as their project is spread out over various projects.

Value: It is important as different regions create sometimes duplicates and duplicates can be avoided in advance.

  5. Monospace font for Atlas project user creation fields

When you start a new project using Atlas, a username and password are suggested. The username and password fields use a font with almost identical lowercase L and capital i.

My suggestion is to use a monospace font in those fields for disambiguation.

I use a password manager on my phone (as do, I imagine, many others), which means it’s very annoying to have to figure out if a character is an l or an I on the computer every time I have to copy down info for a new project.

  6. Add a command to set cluster to read only mode in MongoDB

Relational databases (oracle, mysql, postgres) provide a single command to change a database to read only mode. e.g. alter system set database read only; This is often used to enable read only access to a cluster that is in process of being upgraded, or provide a look back to verify functionality or setup post upgrade. MongoDB should implement such a feature.

  9. Cluster configuration protection

I would like to request adding a configuration protection feature in MongoDB Atlas. In our client's scenario, the DBA must manage multiple clusters simultaneously, posing the risk of accidental misconfigurations. Therefore, the client's feedback is that hope MongoDB Atlas can have the option to enable configuration protection so that any adjustments or changes require disabling the configuration protection first

  10. Metrics: Fix Y axis of "max CPU %" charts to 100%

In the various CPU % usage charts in the shard metrics, it looks like the upper limit of the Y axis isn't fixed, and it changes based on what the maximum value in the range of time being displayed is. For both normalized and regular CPU% values, there's a natural maximum to the value, I think: 100% for the normalized CPU%, and ncores*100% for the non-normalized CPU%.

With a changeable Y limit, it's hard to tell at a glance whether the value is actually really high or not. Oh, the blue line is hovering up near the top of the…

  12. Add more detailed information about SUSPENDED account state

When an account get susspended due to some debt on invoices. Please add a detailed step by step process indicating how the service gonna be stopped after some time. This, becuase today in the email, you only say "please pay the invoice" but you don't give clear information of how or when the cluster gonna be innaccesible to be used (this process is not clear for customer service neather). Note, some time change the payment method can take some time and depend on other instituition.

  13. API for configuring Organization Alerts

There is an API for configuring and managing Project Level alerts but we still have to manage any Organization level alerts manually.

It would be good to release an API for the Organization level alerts as well so we can automate those.

  14. Add UUID generation to Atlas Functions

Atlas Functions have a utils.crypto library that offers some basic cryptography functions. One of those should be the modern crypto.randomUUID() that is now standard in ECMAScript. Currently, Atlas Functions cannot generate a UUID without resorting to third-party dependencies. I prefer using full UUIDs over Mongo's proprietary ObjectID.

  15. Improve Hashing Algorithm Choices in Atlas Functions

Atlas Functions have a utils.crypto API that offers hashing. However, the available hashes are embarrassing: SHA1, MD5, and SHA256. I understand that not everything we hash might need security and there's a speed/security tradeoff. But not even OFFERING a cryptographically-secure modern hashing algorithm in 2023 is nuts. People shouldn't have to import third party dependencies just to get best-practice hashing algorithms. Please improve the algorithm choices.

  16. Request billing invoices via API calls at project and cluster level

We need the possibility to request billing invoices via API calls at the project and also cluster level.
The information should be available as it is broken down in the invoices that can be downloaded from Atlas as a csv file.

  18. Enable me to pay the present account; your web site takes me to an old closed account and doesn't let me update with my new credit card .

Ensure that the billing module of your portal links to the actrive account, not a closed account, so that customers can update their credit card info.

  19. Generate class-based TypeScript object models for Realm from existing schema

The Realm SDKs -> Realm Object Models page (https://realm.mongodb.com/groups/<groupId>/apps/<appId>/sdks/dataModels) uses the existing schema to generate object models in a variety of languages. However, the TypeScript generator is out-of-date.

RealmJs now has first-class TypeScript support, allowing you to declare your models as classes and use @realm/babel-plugin to infer the schema. If your TypeScript objects don't inherit from Realm.Object (which is the case with the models generated currently), the items returned from your queries will be of type unknown as well. But if you query using models inherited from Realm.Object everything is strongly typed.

Please update the generator to provide…

  20. Display all function log messages

Currently we only can see under "App Services > Manage > Logs" section the output of a few log messages for each function execution, but if the function contains a large amount of logs (more than 100 for example) the interface only shows the last log entries, making difficult to debug and check for errors.

There is should be way to see all logs output of a function execution.
