  2. BI connector Schema Refresh

Based on our recent experience with BI connector refresh , we had to bump the sample size to 15000 recently. This contributed to a longer outage on our real-time dashboard reporting. It took more than an hour for the schema refresh to complete. We are hoping in future we can add couple features to Mongo Atlas :
    1) when BI connector refresh runs it would consider documents based on the last update time in the sample, so we can bring down the volume of sample considered and reduce the down time.
    2) Enable BI connector schema refresh at a collection…

  3. Autoscaling - CPU/ Memory Utilization duration monitor - Minutes

Hi, Currently there is no option to initiate auto scaling during heavy workload/ requests comes and the cpu/ memory utilization is 75% for the even within
    - 5 minutes
    - 15 minutes
    - 30 minutes
    - 45 minutes

The system has to wait for 1 hour to autoscale to next tier. This one of the concerns for the heavy workload applications.

    Idea:

Add a custom duration option as

    • minutes also while monitoring the cpu / memory utilization

Example : When a CPU / Memory utilization is above 75% for the past 15 minutes , move the cluster to the next tier…

  4. Project teams

    Hello,

I think it would be a good idea to have team management at project level.
We have many projects and members in our Atlas account.
I'm a organization owner. The people in my organization use the Altas service. I create
a project for them and give my colleagues the project owner authorizations.

Project owners can invite other members. This is good. But it's a little inconsistent that
they are not able to create groups or teams within their projects They have to manage the permissions for each member separately.

We can't use organization teams, because they are located at…

  5. Option To Disable Auto Upgrades

Would be great if we could disable the auto upgrades/updates of clusters. I.e., stop auto upgrade of cluster running 4.4.6 to 4.4.7.

  6. Atlas Capacity Check for Cluster Creation or Changes

When creating large new clusters sometimes Atlas does not have enough resources available from the cloud provider. When this happens a restore or cluster change fails without reporting what the actual issue is.

Solution: Verify available capacity and issue a warning or error if it is possible that the operation will fail & recommend opening a support ticket (or have a dialog to automatically do so listing the details)

  7. Improvement: Add severity to alert definitions in Atlas MongoDB

The alert payload only contains status field with 'open' or 'closed' value. No severity definition option is available.

  8. Put some kind of connection string generator / link / text on the "Database Access" screen

    Hello!

It took quite a while for me to find a template connection string for Atlas, as I only thought to check the "Database Access" screen. Eventually I found the "Connect" button the "Clusters" screen, but it was a pretty frustrating time looking for something as essential as a connection string.

It would be great if you added something that would have prevented that-- a little widget where you pick your cluster and it spits out a template string. Or even just some text like "Looking for your connection string? Go to clusters, it's over there!"

    Thanks!

  9. The Atlas Disk IOPs Read/Write alerts for data/index/journal partitions should be combined & not reference partitions.

The current Atlas Disk IOPs Read/Write alerts are for data/index/journal partitions.
However, Atlas does not use seperate partitions for data/index/journal so it can be misleading to rely on the alert message.

The Atlas Disk IOPs Read/Write alerts for data/index/journal partitions should be combined & not reference partitions.
    Alerts like:
Host - of any type - Disk write IOPS
Host - of any type - Disk read IOPS

  10. Atlas collection explorer UI: The list of collections should not scroll with the rest of the page

I work with hundreds of collections, and I have two issues with the UI that make a not optimal UX:
    - my collection names are large, and the collection list is not resizable.
Alternatively to resizing, a popping up tooltip could show the full name of the collection being hovered with the pointer

    • the list of collection scrolls with the rest of the page. when I want to search a collection at the bottom of the page I have to scroll down to select it, and then scroll up again to see the results.

  13. Accept-Range for backup download

The backup archives can be very large, and if my download is interrupted, without Accept-Range, it is not resumable. A length header is also missing, so the downloader doesn't know the size of the archive.

  15. Support encryption key management with a 100% EU-based provider

More and more large corporations in the EU are no longer using services that both host data and manage encryption keys with American companies due to the invalidation of Privacy Shield.

For a small SaaS-provider as ourselves, it is pushing us in the direction of having to choose between using MongoDB Atlas and losing a certain share of our clients, or figuring out a different database solution. We do not like these two choices.

We lost a deal with a major telecom company just this week due to us not wanting to replace MongoDB for our database. And there are…

  16. Performance Advisor Case Insensitive Queries and $lookup Recommendations - Include Relevant Queries

Currently the Performance Advisor features suggestions for two distinct situations:
    * Queries Using regex With Case Insensitivity.
    * Queries Using $lookup.

Currently the query or queries that triggered the suggestions are not shared within the Performance Advisor message which requires an extra effort in finding them either in the MongoDB Logs or using the Performance Advisor. As such, it would be useful to attach the relevant query or queries that triggered the suggestions to the Performance Advisor details.

  17. Allow users to download backup snapshots from BYO-KMS encrypted clusters

Many clients download backup snapshots to keep an offline copy of their data either to restore it into their on-prem development environment or to keep an offline copy of their data. At the moment, Atlas does not allow downloading backup snapshots that have customer BYO-KMS encryption enabled.

  19. Determine index's impact score before creating

Currently in Atlas there is no way to test an index's performance before creation. Performance advisor provides an index impact score for suggested indexes. Requesting a feature where you can upload a proposed index and performance advisor can determine the index's impact score. This would help test an index performance before committing to a build

  20. Being able to enable / disable Database users

When managing accounts and permissions, it could be great to "disable" an account before deleting it or reseting its password.

By example GCP ServiceAccounts have this feature. It helps to restore a service of an account faster if this one is still in use.

It will also help to set a kind of "policy" where inactive accounts get deactivated for a period of time and then deleted if not reactivated till then.
