  1. Need Prior notification For The Scheduled maintenance

We have noticed that our servers undergo scheduled maintenance, resulting in unexpected reboots. However, we lack information about the nature and purpose of these maintenance activities. We require a prior notification regarding scheduled minor/major maintenance to ensure that we can take proactive measures from our end. This would enable us to prepare appropriately and minimize any potential disruptions or issues caused by the maintenance.

  2. "Deviation from Norm" and "Frog Boil" type alerting

Currently Atlas only alerts us when CPU reaches a critical threshold such as 90%. We would like to see additional types of alerts to detect issues sooner, including the following.

    1. “Deviation from norm” - A given metric is X% worse than the Y-hour average at the same time window for the past Z days (e.g. “CPU today at 4am is much worse than the average of 3am ~ 4am for the past 7 days”.)
    2. “Frog boils” - A given metric is becoming progressively X% worse over Y hours / days / weeks (e.g. "CPU usage is 10% higher on average…

  3. Allow showing Total Usage chart based on Usage Date instead of Billed Date

On the billing page (cloud.mongodb.com/v2#/org/.../billing/invoice/...) there is a “Total Usage” chart that uses the Billed Date to paint the bars.

It would be great to be able to switch to the Usage Date instead.

This would help me to better understand on which day how much usage accrued in terms of costs. I am looking at it because I want to monitor the effects of changes that I made to the backup policy or the effects of code updates to reduce data transfer volumes.

Thanks a lot for considering this!

  4. Add support for GCP (Google Cloud Platform) region of dammam (me-central2)

    Dear MongoDB Atlas Support Team,

I hope this email finds you well. I am writing to inquire about the availability of the MongoDB Atlas region in Dammam, Saudi Arabia.

As our organization expands its operations, we are seeking a reliable and secure cloud database solution. However, we are obligated to comply with local regulations that mandate the hosting of our data within Saudi Arabia. Therefore, it is essential for us to find a suitable hosting option that meets these requirements.

After reviewing the available regions for MongoDB Atlas, we noticed that the Dammam region (me-central2) is not currently listed. We…

  5. Enable Atlas Maintenance Notification without specifying a maintence window

There should be an option to enable Alert notification for Atlas maintenence without specifying an Alert Window. Just because a specific window is not required, MongoDB Atlas should allow an option to receive notification that one occurred. This would save time hunting down root cause for restart events and allow customers to be notified when a change occurs in their cluster.

  6. Prometheus database and collection metrics

We checked the Prometheus metrics provided by MongoDB Atlas and didn't find metrics for the following:
    Database size

    Collection storage size

    Record per collection

    Indexes per collection

    Index size

We would like to have this kind of metrics to add to dashboards.

  7. Push Logs to AWS S3 bucket: IAM role Max_Session expect 12hours

With respect to the feature "Push Logs to AWS S3 bucket " Atlas expect max-session-duration for IAM cross account role is : 43200 (12HRS) by default.
Some organizations like us have limitations on max-session. We reached out MongoDB Support, They said " The Atlas team has confirmed that currently, we do not support max session durations of less than 12 hours. However, there is an internal ticket for improvement, where session duration can be internally configurable via MongoDB's internal support UI. Case ref: 01276442

This will provide a flexibility for the organizations to have max-session configured according to their internal…

  9. Domain Mapping for Federated Authentication

Improvements to Domain Mapping for Federated Authentication.
    1. Update the documentation (https://www.mongodb.com/docs/atlas/security/manage-domain-mapping/) to clearly state if the TXT/HTML record should persist or if they can be deleted after a domain has been verified.
    2. If the record has to persist, consider changing the name of the key. TXT records are public and can be used by security researchers to map all companies using Atlas by looking for TXT records with "mongodb-site-verification".

  10. Atlas SQL Interface: Support queries based on BinData (UUID)

We have a need to write reports that query MongoDB via the Atlas SQL Interface using BinData (a UUID with BinData type 4) as selection criteria (see support ticket Case 01313460: Query bindata using atlas sql interface). We were told that this is currently not supported, although querying data based on a unique identifier is a most basic and essential function as far as DB interfaces are concerned.

Example query from ticket: SELECT * FROM bn_events WHERE _id = CAST('6b0be834-c03e-47bc-9c7d-4726a1e8c69a' AS BINDATA)

This is a serious limitation that may prevent us from being able to use Atlas SQL Interface for…

  11. 12 hour option for Temporary User

Add support for a 12 hour Temporary User.

6 hours is too short for a working day
24 hours is too long for a working day

    12 hours is just right.

  12. logs - pull from s3 over private link

When reviewing push to s3 feature, our security teams have raised concerns around 3rd Party having the ability to write into our application team's s3 bucket (push model), the existing pull model (pulling logs via API) transmits logs over internet and additionally requires HA log agents to deployed at our end. As a middle ground if Atlas can expose logs over s3 API that's consumable via private link it will help to address security concerns while reducing the complexity involved in pulling logs over atlas control plane API.

  13. UUID Schema Validation

It would be very handy to have the ability to specify a schema validator using bson type UUID (binData subtype 4) instead of the more generic binData subtype 0.

  15. Support for CDK SAM Template in Publishing Serverless Applications in AWS

I suggest that AWS supports CDK SAM Template for publishing serverless applications. Currently, when attempting to publish a serverless application using a SAM template that includes MongoDB Atlas CloudFormation extensions, such as MongoDB::Atlas::Project, MongoDB::Atlas::DatabaseUser, MongoDB::Atlas::Cluster, MongoDB::Atlas::ProjectIpAccessList, an error is encountered.

    Error Message:

Error: SAM template is invalid. It cannot be deployed using AWS CloudFormation due to the following validation error: Template format error: Unrecognized resource types: [MongoDB::Atlas::Project, MongoDB::Atlas::DatabaseUser, MongoDB::Atlas::Cluster, MongoDB::Atlas::ProjectIpAccessList]

While deployments proceed smoothly, this error arises when attempting to publish the serverless application. It would be beneficial if AWS supports CDK SAM Template for publishing serverless applications, allowing for…

In according to the least privilege principle we would like to have a better granularity when defining roles. This feature would help us to have uncontrolled collection creations by applications

  17. Allow Organizations without a Subscription to have linked organizations

Currently, to be able to link organizations to a single paying organization (ie. linked organizations), it requires an active (paid) subscription.
My use-case is that we have an enterprise subscription on our production organization, but wish to have a sandbox organization to test infrastructure as code, creating/deleting sub-organizations, and linking API keys.
In my opinion, developers / administrators should be able to test out managing the org structure in a separate account without affecting the primary "root" paying account structure.

  18. Always show an option for both SRV Connection String and Standard Connection String

There are more than a few examples where users DNS does not resolve SRV Connections strings. They are often directed to select an old version / legacy connection string.

    Two issues with this are:
    1. Sometimes outdated/deprecated options are provided (ssl=true)
    2. Serverless does not provide this.

  19. better index usage

Currently most of our indexes show a usage of <1/min which isn't very useful. If I hover over them I can see the usage which might say 20/day but I would prefer to not have to hover.

  20. Include "fields" and "options" in index build email notification

Hi, I'm wondering if it would be possible to not only include the database and collection names in the "Index build succeeded" email notification, but also the "fields" and "options" json objects.

It's great to know what indices are built by the team as the database admin, and since there isn't a "createdAt" timestamp in mongodb, the emails would serve as a workaround for that as well.

In short, it would be a valuable addition for our team if the "fields" and "options" data was included in the "Index build succeeded" email notification.

    Thanks in advance!
