1. Allow turning off backups on serverless and free instances

   We have a use case where we would have liked to use a serverless instance but cannot since we cannot disable backups on serverless instances.

   We can't enable backups on this specific instance because of data retention restrictions so being able to turn them off completely on serverless and free instances would be ideal.

2. Set Customer Managed Key (CMK) for wiredtiger encryption at the Organization level

   For Organizations with a large number of projects, it is cumbersome to rotate keys for every project. If there was an option to set a default at the Organization level, and maybe override by CMKs set at project level, it will reduce the effort of key rotation for every project.

3. Enhanced Access to Secrets in the context.environment Object

   We would like to see an improvement where secrets can be accessed as environment variables directly through the context.environment object. For example, if we have a secret called myApiKey, we would like to be able to access it in a function using context.environment.secrets.myApiKey.

   This would make the process of storing and accessing environment-specific sensitive data like API keys, access tokens, etc., much more straightforward and error-proof.

   As it stands, we're creating a workaround by saving env specific API keys as secrets, and then using some logic with context.environment.tag to fetch the correct environment API key. However, this approach is not ideal as it adds unnecessary complexity and is not very intuitive.

   Storing environment-specific sensitive data is a common use case in almost every project. It seems like there should be a simple and straightforward solution for this.

8. Include more actionable data in Alert emails

   Currently the alert emails just link to the profiler page with nothing selected. This makes it guess work if there are multiple items in the profiler to examine. If you are unable to check the profiler within 24 hours of the email, no data could exist specifically for the alert email.

   It would be much more actionable if the email alerts mentioned the collection that was being queried, the appName that triggered the query, and a direct link to the query in the profiler showing complete details of the query that triggered the alert.

   This would make triage near instant and allow immediate action to be taken directly from the email without sorting through any potential noise in the profiler.

   For example: if user XYZ needs access to DB:123 he can elevate access himself to this db.

11. Allow private dns names for Atlas private endpoints

    When a customer requires the use of private DNS names for their Atlas private link connection strings, can we allow them to switch on this capability? Basically use a private dns zone instead of a public one and share it as part of the VPC endpoint setup? AWS seems to offer this capability.     Your website is a monster where is very difficult to get the useful information.

    I wanted to use Realm to use a mongo cluster and after hours trying I give up.
    I couldn't connect to the cluster after I created serveral ids (app, api, another api id, ...)

    Solution: Let's say I have a single cluster and a single realm app created.
    Just give me the code with all the ids necessary.

    In my case I wanted to run it from the browser.
    This is the code I tried to execute:

    The idea would be to have more advanced options when configuring access management to different projects/clusters.

    A lot of companies would benefit greatly from seeing a segregation of roles and access to different features on a project.

    It would be beneficial to have more read roles - focus on the metadata layer, but it would be also nice to have it on the DB level e;g. Onboarding a local entity - DBAs want to see only dedicated DB information - should be then between their responsibility.

    The idea is to have differentiation between metadata and data, It can be particularly useful for holding companies who don't want to expose advanced rights to most users, narrowing the view of what can be seen.

    The need for more in-depth user validation and granular permissions on each cluster/DB is key going forward to ensure confidentiality within different projects.

16. API to list clusters that has snapshots on it- even deleted clusters

    Today we use the API below to list the clusters that exists in a project

    GET https://cloud.mongodb.com/api/atlas/v1.0/groups/{GROUP-ID}/clusters?pretty=true

    After having the clusters list, we can list the snapshots from one specific clusters using the API:

    GET https://cloud.mongodb.com/api/atlas/v1.0/groups/{GROUP-ID}/clusters/{CLUSTER-NAME}/backup/snapshots

    Now on Mongo Atlas I can delete a cluster and ask not to delete their snapshots. So if I want to use the same functions I can't, because the list of the clusters do not show the clusters that have been deleted but still has snapshots on atlas.

    It would be great if the API that lists the cluster also give us those clusters that have been deleted (at list the ones that still has backups on Atlas).

    We use these APIs to be able to migrate our snapshots for a Google cloud storage. So not having this option for the clusters that have been deleted causes problems if we need to migrate snapshots from old clusters.

    Today we use the API below to list the clusters that exists in a project

17. dynamic auto-downscale (configurable)

    MongoDB have automatic fixed limit for auto-downscale (50%) but sometimes is neccessary downscale with other amount, ie: in our case in the night the clusters have 55%, 60%... will be productive for us that the % limit for downscale will be parametrizable.
    If I configure 60% I know that all the nights the cluster auto-downscale to previus instance.

18. Kubernetes AtlasDeployment snapshot persistence flag

    When AtlasDeployment resources are deleted, the cluster is immediately terminated without the opportunity to enable snapshot persistence after deletion as there is in the Atlas UI. An option in the spec should be added to opt-into this behavior from a Kubernetes perspective.

    Kubernetes resources generally should be reconciled on a sensible schedule to prevent configuration drift between k8s and Atlas API.

    AtlasProject is a critical one that can have widespread impact if API configuration drifts from Kubernetes and is not promptly corrected.
