1. Improve Index utilization information for unprivileged users

   If a user is not privileged to call $indexStats, Compass is showing a 0 as value for index usages, which is misleading. Instead it would better to indicate that the indexStats could not be fetched.

2. warn about stale IP address whitelisting

   For people who work on wireless networks, if you come back after the weekend the IP address has often changed. If you are working with whitelisting, you now have the surprising situation that your connection string no longer works.

   The sidebar in Compass gives instructions on getting the connection string or how to format it, but no reminder that connections that recently worked might be unusable now because the IP address whitelisting is now out of date.

   In addition, Compass might list your IPv4 and IPv6 to let you know what these values are instead of requiring to go to some public IP address lookup site.

4. Checkbox to deselect all fields when importing csv files

   When importing csv files, I did not find the checkbox to deselect all fields. There were 60 fields, I needed just two of them. I had to click 58 times to deselect the not needed fields.

6. Explicit confirm the saving of connection credentials

   When user enter connection info, the details are saved for the next time.

   If the user want to forget the info he need to disconnect and then remove the connection string.

   Instead i suggest that only when the user explicitly ask to save the connection string (with checkbox atc.) the connection will be available for the next opening

7. Deal with Lat/Lon Pairs in CSV/Tabular imports.

   When importing tabular data with separate columns for Lat/Lon geospatial data, MongoDB Import should be able to automatically rebuild these into GeoJSON compliant structures.

8. View sub collections as dropdowns or directories and adding a search feature for collections

   I think MongoDB Compass is an incredibly powerful software using which one can do easy queries and manipulations to data. I also like the UI - its clutter free and easy to use.

   I want to request an additional feature in Compass which isn’t currently there:

   Viewing sub collections as dropdowns or directories(Tree structure)

   Generally, sub collections are namespaced using a period(.) and they make sense since the data becomes easy to organise and work with.

   Say we have nx.ny.na.nb…(n - nodes, x y a and b are integers) type collections

   1. If only a single final collection exists under a particular parent node, then the final collection is directly displayed under the parent node without further nesting.

   2. The root node is always nested.

   3. If a parent node is also a final collection, then the parent node is nested and the final collection is displayed as a child of itself.

   4. If a subcollection ends with a period(.), its treatment will be same as point 3.

   5. For more than one consecutive periods, it is treated as a single collection under its parent. No further nesting occurs.

   6. Collections starting with period would be treated as a single file.

   7. If the parent node only has a single child which is in turn a parent, then both of them can be conglomerated into a single directory. Exception - root node
      (Example: Instead of 'n0'->'n1'->n10.coll,n20.coll, it could be 'n0.n1'-> n10.coll, n20.coll[ .coll are just way of representing individual collections])

   So if n10.n20 is the only sub collection under n0.n1 and n0.n2 has n66, n55, n66.n95, n55.n85, n66., n66.....54, n66.n95.n54 and n55.n85.n86 as sub-collections the output would be this -

   Adding a search bar to search for collections would also be helpful for those who know exactly what they are looking for.

   Implementing this would greatly improve readability, and de-clutter the collections for databases.

9. Cast _id: number to string

   Every time I type { _id: 12345 } in the Filter, I get zero results, until I realize that I forgot the quotes. Could Compass automatically convert numeric _id values to strings before running the query?

12. How can't you improve it. It's shocking

14. Support discovering deployment topology

    It appears that Compass has no provision to discover the topology of deployment, and instead it requires the user to specify replica set name in order to connect to a replica set.

    For example when I connected to mongodb://localhost:27020 where the node at 27020 is a secondary, I received this message:

    An error occurred while loading navigation: 'not master and slaveOk=false': It is recommended to change your read preference in the connection dialog to Primary Preferred or Secondary Preferred or provide a replica set name for a full topology connection.

    As a user of Compass, I would like to specify the minimum required information for Compass to connect to my deployment. In case of a replica set, this is the address of a single node and I would like Compass to automatically determine set name and connect to all other nodes per the SDAM specification.

15. Compass got stack without errors info (over 10 min)

    Better error reporting for the user. Importing a json (a valid file) puts the compass in an infinity loop without any error info for the user what is wrong. Values are not stored. App doing importing over 10 min simple file structure, I stoped on end the process.
    I found on end that json should to be in collection format (just with {} brackets). I added standard content with [] (example of the file is below). Improve validation.

    I used 1.21.1 (stable) version of mongodb compass for mac

16. Compass

    I'm having problems with Compass. I create 2 connections.
    One to connect to DB to practise - Chapter I
    Another connection to connect to my Sandbox cluster

    Both of them have different hostnames

    When I Exit y Open Compass again, the favourites are no more I need to create the connections again. Before updating, I haven't this problem
    How can I solve?

    Allow an organization to force users to use their access manager accounts as opposed to database accounts to access Compass or from the Shell. Otherwise, users have to have two accounts or we end up with a shared database user account and create a potential security hole.

18. It's really hard to type in a document json or an attribute,I hope Compass can be more intellegent

    Can Compass get more intellegent for us users ? The Feedback button hide some functional area so that I can't click update to finish editing ducument. I hope Compass can auto save what I've already typed,and never let it happen again that I forget to click that hidden UPDATE button and lose all I've typed,which makes me crazy and angry⊙︿⊙
