  1. Add Atlas instance in Azure Sweden

We host data that is preferred to reside in Sweden. Do you have plans to expand to the newly added Azure Sweden data centers?

  2. Purge of unused accounts after X days/months

After X number of days/months (say 12 months), accounts that haven't been accessed or have never been accessed go into a 3 month freeze period, before they are automatically disabled and deleted. A report of such accounts should be auto generated and archived. The freeze period intention sends a warning to the account holder as well as an alert to administrators of the atlas org.

  3. Prevent Federated Users to gain access to other Projects

    Hi,

We have set Federated authication and RoleMapping to project. This roleMapping gives Project Owner Rights to a particular project. Project Owner have the right to invite other people into their project.

Role mapping is only applied when a user logs in. However, if the user receives an invitation to a project when logged in (to say Project ***) and accepts an invitation (to say Project YYY, for which they should not have any access), they will receive the Atlas role in that project (Project YYY) designated by the invitation, allowing them to perform any actions provisioned by that role.

  4. Migrate to new cluster without auto upgrade (5.1.0)

    Hi,
Our clusters are in auto upgraded feature of MongoDB versions right now.

We want to stop the auto upgrade feature for now and migrate our clusters to new one with the MongoDB version 5.1.0.

But, when we try to create a new cluster it's not showing the option for version 5.1.0.
And we need 5.1.0, because we're going to restore the data from the current cluster which is versioned 5.1.0.

    Your help is much appreciated.

  5. Derisk cluster changes that cause restarts

    Problem statement:
Some configuration changes cause rolling restarts of the cluster (e.g. audit filter, enabling x509 auth). It is not immediately obvious which changes will cause restarts and for a big cluster, this is a huge hit to performance due to cold caches.

    Ideas:
    1. Block planner changes which would cause restarts until maintenance window (maybe with an opt-in for this, + notification that the config change is blocked)
    2. Throttle replica set restarts, allowing time for the cache to be warmed on secondaries (would require mirrored reads in 4.4 to be effective)
    3. Properly document what changes will cause…

  6. Permit setting a default collation at the project level, to apply to all collections etc within the databases it contains.

Currently the highest level that collation can be set is at collection creation, and it is inherited then for any indexes created on that collection and by commands like find() that run against it.

But it would be nice to be able to specify a default collation at the database level, or even the Atlas Project level, to apply to all collections in all databases therein, howsoever created.

  8. Put some kind of connection string generator / link / text on the "Database Access" screen

    Hello!

It took quite a while for me to find a template connection string for Atlas, as I only thought to check the "Database Access" screen. Eventually I found the "Connect" button the "Clusters" screen, but it was a pretty frustrating time looking for something as essential as a connection string.

It would be great if you added something that would have prevented that-- a little widget where you pick your cluster and it spits out a template string. Or even just some text like "Looking for your connection string? Go to clusters, it's over there!"

    Thanks!

  9. Support encryption key management with a 100% EU-based provider

More and more large corporations in the EU are no longer using services that both host data and manage encryption keys with American companies due to the invalidation of Privacy Shield.

For a small SaaS-provider as ourselves, it is pushing us in the direction of having to choose between using MongoDB Atlas and losing a certain share of our clients, or figuring out a different database solution. We do not like these two choices.

We lost a deal with a major telecom company just this week due to us not wanting to replace MongoDB for our database. And there are…

  10. To modify transactionLifetimeLimitSeconds parameter

As this is one of the most common request from Atlas customers to modify transactionLifetimeLimitSeconds it would be beneficial to grant the privilege so the Atlas customers are able change this parameter within a certain limit. Please add this functionality.

  12. Atlas collection explorer UI: The list of collections should not scroll with the rest of the page

I work with hundreds of collections, and I have two issues with the UI that make a not optimal UX:
    - my collection names are large, and the collection list is not resizable.
Alternatively to resizing, a popping up tooltip could show the full name of the collection being hovered with the pointer

    • the list of collection scrolls with the rest of the page. when I want to search a collection at the bottom of the page I have to scroll down to select it, and then scroll up again to see the results.

  13. Atlas UI to manage and spin up on-prem clusters

CSM submitting on behalf of customer

Spinning up new clusters for on-prem deployments through the Atlas UI would save time and efforts for DBAs managing MongoDB deployments

  14. Stop dismissing dialogs by losing focus

When filling in the password field in Atlas user, sometimes I click show then start typing a new password, or Home/end to highlight it. Somehow half the time it dismisses the dialog and I have to start over.

I suspect it is the dialog losing focus. Stop dismissing the dialog when I click off of the box. Other dialogs do the same thing. A lot of web apps do that now and it seems really dumb -- save one specific Cancel click to aggravate me many more times when the dialog I have worked on for 5 minutes disappears.

  16. Cluster version overview on Owner level

We have partially older mongoDB versions running on our clusters. We get notified about it by EOL mails from mongoDB. However, as an org owner, I cannot see which clusters are affected. This makes it extremely time consuming for me to identify the relevant contacts per cluster. Our org structure entails self-sufficient teams with independent accountability of the mongoDB clusters. There is no central contact person.

It would be desirable to be able to call an overview of all clusters with the respective installed version in the GUI with owner rights.

  17. Ability to apply the same settings to multiple projects

As described in support case #00739901, we have exceeded the 50 limit of clusters in our production project.

We are going to have a lot of new clusters in the coming year, and they all need to be in the production environment.

There should be a way either to add more clusters to one project or to share the same settings between multiple production projects for growing customers of MongoDB like us.

  18. Add MFA status to the API

A field indicating whether MFA is on for organization users (i.e. on https://docs.atlas.mongodb.com/reference/api/organization-users-get-all-users) would be extremely useful!

  19. Governance rules at the organization level

    Hello team,

Would it be possible to be able to set up governance rules at the organization level in order to control certain configuration elements.

    For example:
Control authorized providers and regions for an organization to prevent creation of cluster in unauthorized regions. (We must keep the data in Canada for some of our databases)

Check the allowed IP (IP Access List) addresses

Disable the use of SCRAMS accounts for database access.

Control the "Data Explorer" functionality at the organization level to prevent its activation at the project level.

  20. allow for renaming and moving of collections and databases on server

Right now it is difficult to rename and move databases and collections without downloading and re-uploading them.

Please enable this critical functionality as it's very common to need this when administering data.
