  1. Use rolling index build by default

We added a few indexes and support mentioned it is not advisable to use the backgroud option when adding an index yet this isthe default setting iwhen adding an index in the performance advisor

  2. Allow Billing Alerts per Project

Currently, we can configure Atlas to send an alert when the current bill for any project is above a specific amount. It would be great to be able to set alerts for specific projects. This way we could more easily manage budget fors projects and alert project owners.

  3. Add "Maintenance Completed" Alert Option & Activity Feed Item

There are existing alerts that will notify users when a Project Maintenance Window is "not needed"/"scheduled"/"started" but it would also be helpful to add an alert for when maintenance has been completed. This event currently appears in a project activity feed as "cluster update completed". This alert would help users who need to manually verify if any of their applications need to be restarted following maintenance events.

  4. Unevenly Scale Global Shards

Globally distributed shards should be able to scale unevenly. We have uneven loads across the world and sometimes spikes can hit a single region. Autoscaling for that single region scales everything and increases costs unnecessarily

  5. take snapshots off of the activity tab for maintenance.

When I select the maintenance filter on the activity feed all the daily snapshots show up. I feel like there should be a backup screen that shows all the snapshots on the activity feed. this would make the maintenance screen more precise and relevant.

. The maintenance screen should only show what software maintenance goes on the atlas clusters. This should also include all the release fixes. so, I do not have to go to your
    https://docs.mongodb.com/manual/release-notes/software releases page.

It is very hard to tell what maintenance will be applied in a given time period. We have timeframes to apply…

Would like the option to view collection pages by 10, 20, 50, 100. Along with ability to move to (<first) (last>). Similar to mLab

  8. Allow individual Atlas database user to connect from different specific IP address only

The feature request is to allow individual Atlas database user to be able to connect from different specific IP address, instead of compulsorily having the whitelisted IP address apply to all database users.

    I.e.
UserA can only connect from ipA
UserB can only connect from ipB

  9. Extend sub-hourly metrics retention to 72 hours

Right now the 1- and 5-minute metric data is lost after 48 hours (when it is combined into the hourly data). This makes it impossible to take a close look, on a weekday, at an event that occurred over the weekend.

It would be nice to be able to look at a problem on the weekend and say "I'll look at this more closely on Monday", and then have the ability to actually investigate it on Monday.

  10. Allow Atlas to send additional metrics to New Relic via integration

This is a request to add some additional metrics to those that are currently sent from Atlas to New Relic when the integration is enabled.

The specific metrics of interest here are:
    - Disk Space (%) Used (or Free)
    - DB Storage
    - Query Targeting

Having pointed out the above metrics specifically, I would also say: the closer that the metrics sent to New Relic via the Atlas integration can resemble those available in the Atlas cluster Metrics page, the better.

  11. Hosting Atlas on DigitalOcean

In addition to AWS, Azure and GC, give an option to host on DigitalOcean. DigitalOcean has a really cheap and well-made Kubernetes system that requires VPC because container IPs are always changing, and I would want them to connect to Atlas without having to just open Atlas to whitelist every IP.

  12. Alert for WiredTiger Cache

    Hi,

Can you please create an alert for WiredTiger metrics, such as used cache?

We had several cluster instances going over the 5% of used cached (dirty data) and would like to be notified when it happens.

    Regards,
    Sergei

This is needed in order to determine whether

  13. INFORM that shared clusters share data limits

In the comparison between clusters, for Shared clusters M2, M5, vital information is that there are data limits and those limits are shared, not only for you but also together with any other databases of the same cluster.

This was NOT clear at all when we signed up with an M2.

  15. Publish statistics in Atlas to analyze what is filling oplog

It would be very useful to be able to see metrics/statistics about the contents of oplog. There are open-source tools like oplog analyzer (https://github.com/mhelmstetter/oplog-analyzer) that can be used, but it's a hassle to have to install it and run it in the same datacenter where the database is running (for performance).

The statistics I'm most interested is what collections have most oplog documents, what kind of operations they have been and what is the total size that each collection currently utilizes from the oplog. This will help improving code to use less oplog.

    We've seen cases where bad…

  16. Live Migrate through VPC peering connections

Many teams put their databases in subnets without internet access or with just a NAT gateway. It would be great if the Live Migrate could be use through already configured VPC peering connections.

  17. M30 Cluster Tier option with 4 CPUs

There is a gap in the Cluster Tiers for clients that have high CPU requirements but lower disk space requirements. We run on a M30 Cluster where we max out the CPU when running aggregations, we use little of the available disk and do not want to move to a M40.

  18. More simple scheduled aggregations

When we set up an aggregation in Aggregation Pipeline Builder, we can "Export pipeline to languages"..
I think it would be great to be able to export complete, copy-paste-ready code as a function to be triggered in Atlas Triggers, as a Function, eg. on schedule,
or any other simple way (no-code / low-code) to run aggregations on schedule.

  19. Manually replace / restart virtual machine

Allow to replace / restart the underlying virtual machine of a node.

Sometimes this is all that is needed to get a cluster out of an unhealthy state. Currently, only support seem to be able to do this.

  20. MongoDB Orphaned Docs Utility

When we upgrade MongoDB there is the possibility that orphaned collections that need to be deleted can prevent the upgrade from completing.

It would make sense for Atlas to include a proactive utility that searched a customers sharded cluster for orphaned docs and gave them the option to clean up the orphaned docs ahead of a major version upgrade.
