  1. Add Elastic integration to Atlas

Add support to send cluster metrics to Elastic. Elastic has recently been putting a lot of work into their APM and logging solution, this is now a viable alternative to NewRelic and Datadog and is gaining traction. It would be great if Atlas supported sending metrics to Elastic. Please see below for references

    https://www.elastic.co/apm
    https://www.elastic.co/siem

The use case for this is the same as NewRelic or Datadog. I wish to monitor my Atlas clusters from inside Elastic, create dashboards and set up alerting

  2. Bytes available for reuse metric

This metric will show the available bytes for reuse. If it's too much and its graph is changed a little bit, we can decide to compact it for saving cost (from disk usage).
Currently, we have to run dbstat command to see the available bytes for reuse and can't know its trend.

  3. Log Redaction for Atlas

It would be good to see Log Redaction work in Atlas as well, similar to On Prem
    https://docs.mongodb.com/manual/administration/monitoring/#log-redaction

  4. 3rd Party Hooks

Within Atlas today, we have a number of channel options to send alerts (Ex. OpsGenie, Slack, VictorOps).

I would like to see a hook integration provided by Atlas so any tool can recieve alerts from their cluster. Ex. I can recieve my cluster alert in Microsoft Teams.

3rd party hooks can increase the stickiness of Atlas and improve freedoms for teams and their existing toolsets.

  5. Ability to block sending of Alert Close Notification

We have set up alerts and have noticed that when a condition is back to normal, there is another alert generated acknowledging its closed. Is there a way we can manage this (like disable or block it for some alerts)?

  6. track collection size

I would like to be able to track the size of our collections (i.e. # of records, total disk size) over time. It would be ideal if there was an automated way to do this with Atlas, perhaps with Charts ?

  7. Metrics

We would like the possibility to freeze the row S S P (freeze the top row) when we scroll down to the different charts.

  8. Alerts Messaging Customization

At the moment, it appears one cannot customize the messaging or subject line of the alerts. This makes it difficult to categorize the alerts. For instance, we would like to categorize alerts into different severity levels, such that severity level will help determine the level of attention that is paid to the alerts when they trigger. If it is possible to prefix or append some customization code and message to either the subject line and/or actual message, then a monitoring team can use the custom code/message to determine the severity or category of the alert when it triggers.
    Some alerts…

  9. Email notifications

We have configured several alerts and are having them emailed to us. The subject line of the email alert is something like "[External]Alert - <CLUSTER NAME> - 2021-04-08T12:26Z". We would like the subject line to show what exactly is the alert for - for example - if the alert is for "System Memory: Available has gone below 3.2 GB", we would like the subject to include this information. All the email alerts have the same subject line except for the change in time. Please consider this request. Thank you.

  10. Active link on closed alerts

Currently closed alerts are just a simple text card unlike open alert which does have links. This functionality should be available in closed alert as well.

  12. Add support for replication lag and replication headroom metrics in Datadog

The metrics replset.replicationheadroom and replset.replicationlag would be useful to have exposed to identify network limtiations and/or too small oplogs

  13. Display the Atlas-generated replica-set name in the cluster Dashboard

This is an easy one, and it'll help a lot.

    Inconvenience:

In the past, every time I created a cluster, the name of the replica-set was in line with the name of the cluster:
    e.g.:
    Cluster Name: asteroids-tracking
    Replicaset Name: asteroids-tracking-shard-0

Now when I create a cluster, the name of the replica-set is a random set of characters prefixed by "atlas-"
    e.g.:
    Cluster Name: asteroids-tracking
    Replicaset Name: atlas-[randomChars]-shard-0

This makes it unnecessarily difficult to find (in the Atlas Organization) the cluster referred to when I receive text message alerts. Mainly when you are in charge of so many clusters.
    Additionally,…

  14. Automatic information when shared cluster is throttled

When a shared cluster has reached it's limit and the cluster is throttled, an email should be sent to each db-owner affected. This would save your customers AND your support a lot of time troubleshooting.

Right now there is no way for a db-owner to see this information, let alone get that information, except for asking support for help.

  16. Splunk connector for Atlas

We need a way to easily ingest logs into Splunk. It needs to be all logs - node and web portal activity. Ideally a Splunk connector would be provided but a stop-gap measure would be the ability to configure Atlas to write all logs to an Azure storage account.

Lack of native log ingestion ability may be an Atlas deal killer for us.

  17. Allow custom date range to be submitted in Query Profiler

Currently the Query Profiler can plot queries that were logged up to 24 hours in the past.

It would be helpful to allow for visualization of a custom date range older than 24 hours ago, rather than only queries logged within the past 24 hours. This could help with RCAs for events that occurred more than 1 day ago, and also help teams who collaborate to investigate queries over a time period longer than 1 day.

  18. Show total disk size and index size used for each cluster prominently so we can upgrade if we need to

Right now, I do this manually. Would be good to see the totals prominently, along with a recommended upgrade/ not next to it, and single click to select the next size.

  19. Metrics Collection

Any way could analyze and store all the queries we have made
Fields would be: execution time, IO, cpu usage, etc...
This collection would store only 1 or 2 months of data.

  20. Make RSS feed entries more consistent

We would like to consume your status RSS feed to help us programmatically warn our internal groups when you have issues in a given region. One problem that we see with this is that the messages that we have seen posted are pretty inconsistent with how they specify regions. Examples: Oregon (us-west-2), AWS EU-WEST-2, AWS Sao Paulo. It would be very helpful to us, and probably your other customers as well, if the messages were more consistent in how they reference AWS regions.
