  1. Cluster/Database changes from Atlas portal does not show correct user in DB Audit log

We have enabled Database audit for some projects, because we need to track who have done specific changes , like dropping an index.
When someone using Atlas portal, the logged-in user does not show up in Audit record.
Is not that possible to track ?
    Will attached some files..

  2. apply Data mirroring technology

once data create when we add to it , it will mirror whole data set as another database(e.g: when we create User as a DB and some Collections, it will store, mean while MongoDB store another replica of the same DB )
Functions for the Replica DB when user API's call
When user call the API's for any post get delete update, The replica DB allows only post(Store) request from the user it wont allow other functions like delete update
and Owners can have all rights to that DB.
All functionalities works only on original DB not in replica DB

  3. M0 in eu-west-2 with API (terraform)

I really love mongo. Not having M0 in eu-west-2 and terraform is a huge limitation. It prevents me making the business case for mongodb as our backend of choice, and we end up using AWS DocumentDB. Mongo is preferable for consistent hybrid cloud deployments.

  4. Project migration should not require org-owner rights

Before project migration from one org into another, we have been told to define the responsible users in both orgs with org-owner rights. There should be no need at all to permit org-owner rights on project migration. The org-owner-level should only be reserved to the very smallest group of people (admins) necessary. Project owner level should be enough for a migration of projects.

  5. Add a grace period between a failure to obtain a certificate and the cluster shutting down.

If you set up encryption at rest on Atlas using an external key provider, such as an Azure Key Vault, then a link is created between being able to access the key vault and the status of the MongoDb cluster.

For example, on the 28th September, there was an issue at Azure (SM79-F88) and for over 2hrs around 19% of all authentication processes in Europe failed. This included accessing the KeyVault used by our MongoDb cluster. As Atlas checks the keys roughly every 15 minutes it failed to obtain the key at the beginning of this period and our cluster…

  9. Upgrades from shared to dedicated clusters should only make the cluster available after data has been restored

We have recently upgraded from a shared tier to a dedicated cluster. As document, this process involved a downtime. However, what was not document is that the cluster becomes reachable for clients again before the data has been fully restored. That way, clients can invoke operations on the cluster, that may even interfere with the mongorestore process. I would propose to make the cluster available again to public clients only after all data has been restored to avoid the chance for such race conditions.

  10. View dashboards as if another user

As a Project Owner, when I start rolling out dashboards to new users, I would find it very useful to see the dashboards as they can see them with their current permissions. I would like to be able to "View As" a particular user, so I can see that I have granted them the correct set of dashboards and test their permissions work for them. Obviously a feature for Owners only.

  11. Referral links & referral benefits

MongoDB Atlas should give each user a referral link, and a benefit of this could be that a free account could get increased storage space depending on how many/if the referred person starts paying for Atlas services.

  12. Edge Computing Support for MongoDB Clusters

We extensively use Atlas for tools, utilities as well as production apps. We would like to have the option to create an Edge MongoDB Server on-premises pointed to specific clusters in MongoDB.

This would allow everyone working from a specific location to hit the edge server instead of sending all calls over the internet to Atlas.

The edge server should automatically keep itself in sync with Atlas.

It should be low maintenance and auto updating - set it and forget it.

TFS Proxy Server is a similar idea which Microsoft had for teams working from offshore/ remote locations to improve…

  13. Allow suggest password feature

In both mobile and desktop version of Chrome and Safari, there is a feature for automatically generating a strong password.

In the registration form for MongoDB Atlas, the password field in the registration form cannot take values entered this way. Please add this feature since password managers are in fact quite normal in this era.

  14. Thank you

As a diabetic who relies on Nightscout but is not very experienced regarding building apps and utilising databases, etc., I just wanted to say thank you very much for the clear step-by-step mlab migration instructions and video that you provided. I was able to follow these and it all seems to have worked! Thank you.

  15. Replace editor with MLab's editor

Get rid of the dropdowns and give me a text box. Or at least an option to toggle off type safety.

I see the strength of Mongo as being untyped, but this editor is forcing in type. In addition, it is incredibly clunky to use when adding new fields by hand.

  16. Alias for Cluster name

Add an alias to cluster name, as we are not allowed to change the cluster name. If we have an option to add an alias to cluster name. We can use it, in-case the user created the cluster with the wrong name. And in-screen u can show as clustername(alias). For better understanding.

  17. Trigger event when user confirmation state change

I suggest that after user registered they should ve able to log in regardless of his account confirmation state, but if he is in a pending state, he could not do any read/write operation unless his own user data and his own user extra data,

And the user can also detect if his confirmation state is change

  18. mongorestore

    As per the mongorestore

    1. to preserve UUID must use drop collection
    2. if the collection is dropped then it will affect user/login access.

This cascading effect makes it's impractical to use. We wanted to use mongorestore UUID as an idempotent operation, in case halfway things go wrong and have to start again then it's useful to preserve UUID.

Also, in the mongorestore there should be an option to ignore/skip index creation, we were trying to bring data from the legacy app without indexes. It seems that's not possible at this moment.

  19. default country

When I tried to register for Atlas webinar, host country selection was mandatory. By default it displays the USA first value in the dropdown and have to scroll down to select another country. It would be a good user experience if on the registration page visitor/user's country is identified and by default selected, this will prevent unnecessary scrolling.

Also, a very annoying thing is that in order to register for the webinar have to agree to subscription. Subscription to email and other notification should be optional, otherwise, it's a bit dodgy tactic more suitable to some social media companies who…

  20. MongoDB Sink Connector - Confluent Cloud

Confluent cloud -Mongodb Sink connector requires Atlas whitelist IP to 0.0.0.0/0 which is a security issue on our side. Can mongodb partner with confluent and provide a solution that can be accessed through VPC private link? We are very interested in mnogodb Sink Connector for our solution so we don't have to maintain aws ec2 instances for the sink connectors.
