  1. Ops Manager: Test Failover

The ability to Test Failover was added to Atlas https://docs.atlas.mongodb.com/tutorial/test-failover.

Please add this functionality to Ops Manager in order to facilitate failover testing. This is especially useful in multi-tenant Ops Manager setups.

  2. Benchmark backups in Ops Manager

It would be helpful if, on the Snapshot overview page or on the Admin -> Backup page, there was the ability to benchmark the backup to help identify bottlenecks.

Allow the user to select a deployment to test and then do a random sampling of data (ie: 100MB) to a temporary Snapshot location and then graph out the metrics for things like Memory/CPU/Disk IO on the source host, Database performance, Backup Agent performance, Network throughput, Blockstore/File System Store/S3 write performance, etc.

Then create a report based on this benchmark that can be sent to technical support for recommendations.

    This will…

  3. Improvements for Datadog integration

Some parameters for Datadog are not configurable in Ops Manager. For example, "tagging". Adding this functionality would make using Datadog easier.

  4. Create Ops Manager API endpoint to download mms0.log files

We should expand the Ops Manager API to provide mms0.log downloads the same way we allow mongod deployment log downloads. This will help users with diagnostics when they deploy many Ops Manager instances via the kubernetes operator but do not yet have centralized logging.

  5. Allow to generate/download MongoDB Server Audit process logs

    Problem Statement,
What is the problem? As of now (2021-03-17) Ops Manager does not support downloading MongoDB Server Audit process logs via UI/API. Atlas does have support for it (via GET /groups/{GROUP-ID}/clusters/{HOSTNAME}/logs/{LOG-NAME} API call).

Why is this a problem? Users needs to be able to download MongoDB Server Audit process logs via Ops Manager, same way as they do for MongoDB Server process logs/FTDC and MongoDB Agent logs (this significantly simplify troubleshooting, when required). Some users require to download MongoDB Server Audit process logs programmatically to store them in Security Information and Event Management (SIEM) system.

    Proposal,
    * Add MongoDB…

  6. Do not download EOL releases

Currently our Ops Mgrs keep re-downloading EOL releases of mongodb, e.g. mongodb-linux-x8664-2.6.12, mongodb-linux-x8664-3.0.15, etc. Ops Manager should automatically exclude EOL releases - they are taking up unnecessary disk space.

  7. Configure Ops Manager LDAP Auth via an API call

Currently, there is no way to enable LDAP Auth for the Ops Manager Users via an API call.

This essentially means that one would not be able to use LDAP and ci/cd simultaneously with Ops Manager.

Mongodb enterprise support has confirmed that in the event of disaster recovery or a deployment of a new cluster, manual steps must be done to enable LDAP during a ci/cd deployment.

It should not be expected to sign in and manually do anything in a web gui in an enterprise solution. It is simply not scalable.

  8. Enablement of Ops Manager Auditing similar to MongoDB's

    Hi all

We would like to enable auditing for activities in Ops Manger itself, getting the information directly using the default audit logging options (filesystem / syslog).

Currently we are getting the detailed information in OpsManager, we get some information in the audit.log log when config changes are made via Ops Manager, but not in detail what exactly had been modified in the log files.

To establish a holistic, company wide auditing spanning over all levels (OS / DB / Application) taking use of standard auditing tools this would be highly beneficial.

    Regards, Roger

  9. Integration with Microsoft Teams

Add third-party service integration for Microsoft Teams, as we do for Slack.
Most likely the following can be leveraged to achieve the integration: https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/graph/teams-proactive-messaging

  10. Allow Webhook notifications for System Alerts

Webhooks are available for Project and Global Alerts. However they are not available for System Alerts.

It would be ideal to be able to use Webhooks for all alerts.

  11. Ops Manager - Allow SNMP traps on non standard ports

Allow changing SNMP port from default (162) for customers who run SNMP on non-standard ports.

Currently the port number of the SNMP trap receiver is hardcoded to 162.

  12. Ops Manager API call for Host Mappings

This feature request is for a new Group/Project API call for the management of the host mappings created in Ops Manager from monitoring information. Whether it be an endpoint for "Reset Duplicates" or full featured create/delete of individual host mappings, both will alleviate issues where overlapping mappings affect monitoring in Ops Manager.

Note: The issue of overlapping mappings may occur when a mongod process has moved/changed IP addresses multiple times. With enough cycling (as seen in Kubernetes clusters with frequent pod restarts), eventually a previously mapped IP address may now be associated with a different mongod process.

  13. Using Ops Manager, I want to get an alert when a collection is a certain size or near no storage so that I can do an investigation

As a DBA using Ops Manager, I want to get an alert when a collection is a certain size or near no storage so that I can do an investigation to see if there is abnormal data growth. As of right now, I can only monitor cluster data size.

  14. I want to auto scale vertically and horizontally nodes cpu or disk in Ops Manager

As a DBA using Ops Manager, I want to auto scale vertically and horizontally nodes cpu or disk when certain thresholds are met. As of right now, there is no auto scale functionality in Ops Manager.

  15. Only download to /mms/mongodb-releases/ those versions actually in use in a deployment

/mms/mongodb-releases/ is continually updated with the most current minor release of each major version which can fill the partition.
This request is for "Only download to /mms/mongodb-releases/ those versions actually in use in a deployment"
eg if I am only using 4.2.20 in my actual deployments only download the most recent 4.2.x and not 3.6.x
of course if I do decide to deploy a 3.6.x deployment this FR would need to automatically be bypassed and download my 3.6.x and the most recent 3.6.x.
This request is similar to but not the same as another Feature Request:
    [Do not download EOL…

  16. index review before sharding with OPS Manager

Currently, when you use OPS Manager to shard a collection, it automatically creates a foreground index that exactly matches the sharding key, when such index doesn't exist. When the sharding key column(s) is(are)already prefixing an existing index, it's not sufficent.
This is dangerous in Live environments because the whole database is blocked for a long time (sharded collections are usually big collections).
So, several features could exist :
    - before continuing with sharding, OPS Manager warns that it needs to create this foreground index first. You can stop if you don't agree (and create this index by yourself first).
    -…

  17. Change MongoDB Log Settings via API

You can set MongoDB log rotation for mongod process on project level in the Ops Manager through: Deployment -> More -> MongoDB Log Settings. However there is no option to set it via API.
It looks like there is option to set this parameters on process level (in the Automation Config), but Ops Manager is not accepting new value, like it does when setting values for Monitoring Log rotation and Backup Log rotation.
It would be great to have option to automate this when creating a new project via API and setting all other attributes with script.

  18. Add compound indexes support for Ops Manager managed Sharding

What is the problem that needs to be solved? Ops Manager Automation does not take into account compound indexes (https://docs.mongodb.com/manual/core/index-compound/), e.g. if we have { a: 1, b: 1 } index already exist Ops Manager will still create { a: 1 } index for a Shard Key.

Why is it a problem? (the pain) This creates unnecessary indexes with performance impact on the MongoDB Server process.

  19. Show time it took to complete a snapshot

In order to better troubleshoot snapshot performance issues, or maintain an understanding of how snapshots are performing and whether one is approaching a threshold where they wont be able to keep up, its a good idea to expose how long a snapshot took in the View All Snapshots page. This would also aid in quickly identifying which snapshots are full vs incremental.

  20. S3 Snapshot Store Speed Test

It is often quite difficult to diagnose latency/bandwidth/generally slow S3 storage. It would be useful if Ops Manager could run a short test to show:

    1. How fast a single large object can be PUT and GET

    2. Measure parallel PUTs and GETs against test objects

    3. How much latency there is between Ops Manager and S3
