Another common data type that benefits from ad-hoc field analyzer is SKU codes; usually when dealing with old catalogues, SKU codes have a structure that makes sense on many layers (separated by dots, dashes, or other punctuation), and it's not uncommon to have to search for suffixes (i.e. only the part after the last dash, or dot).

This is such a great idea!
Searching for users might sound easy, but it quickly become pretty advanced. A good user search should support:
Searching on name
Searching on last-name
When providing a last-name, don't show matches where only first name matches
Support multiple e-mails, and possible multiple names
Internalization on steroids - names can contain all kind of characters
Short names; in some countries it's normal with names that only have 1-2 chracters.
