  1. integration with Mattermost for notifications

It would be good to replicate the integration with Slack but using Mattermost. Mattermost is open source and allows the companies to deploy their own messaging server. Some organizations are moving from Slack to Mattermost for this reason.

  2. Add Ops Manager's Org ID/Name into all SNMP Alert Traps

What is the problem that needs to be solved? Ops Manager's Org ID/Name is not included into any of SNMP Alert Traps sent from Ops Manager's Application Server.

    Why is it a problem? (the pain) Operator who watch Monitoring System (the one that receive SNMP Alert Traps from Ops Manager) needs to see Ops Manager's Organization ID/Name in order to quickly understand to where that Ops Manager's Alert is related to. Monitoring System (the one that receive SNMP Alert Traps from Ops Manager) needs to do additional work for each SNMP Alert Trap received (via GET /groups/{PROJECT-ID}/GET /orgs/{ORG-ID}

  3. Show time it took to complete a snapshot

In order to better troubleshoot snapshot performance issues, or maintain an understanding of how snapshots are performing and whether one is approaching a threshold where they wont be able to keep up, its a good idea to expose how long a snapshot took in the View All Snapshots page. This would also aid in quickly identifying which snapshots are full vs incremental.

  4. Allow customization of Alert's Subject/Body

Currently alerts do not allow for any customization of the Subject or Body. It would be useful to allow customization of both the Subject and Body of emails and other alert methods. This would allow customers to add information, such as links to internal runbooks or documentation, to assist with resolving the alert.

  5. Filter/Sort Process List View

In previous versions of Ops Manager, you could filter the process list page. It would be nice to bring that back, so we could quickly identify processes which do not have recent pings, etc.

  6. Change namespace option on mongomirror

I was wondering why you can migrate data but you actually (as far I as saw) cannot change the database name during the process of migration (not using mongod/mongorestore unix/win commands but Atlas directly).

    From the technical support:

"This is because Live Migration using mongomirror as an underlying process, which in this case tails the oplog and recreates the data exactly as is. This tool is typically used to minimize downtime, especially in production environments, for users who are migrating their data as is while writes are still occurring on the source instance. "

    However, as I responded:

    "Ok thanks…

  8. Disable the dropdown to add Agent functions on hosts that don't have the MongoDB Agent installed and were only imported for Backup/Monitori

Disable the dropdown to add Agent functions on hosts that don't have the MongoDB Agent installed and were only imported for Backup/Monitoring.
The elipsis (...) selections to add Monitoring & Backup Agent functions are available on hosts without the MongoDB Agent. If selected the function appears on the host as grey and standby. This is misleading. The options should not be available on hosts without the MongoDB Agent.

  9. MMS Alert for Balancer Down status

please provide an option in Ops Manager to monitor the balancer status and add to alerts?
So, we will know if balancer is not running.

    Note:
Normally the balancer would be disabled during backups and during a scheduled Balancing Window downtime.
I believe that the Balancer has a duty cycle of either 10 secs when nothing recently to balance, or 1 sec when there's a bunch of balancing to do.
Any alert would need to account for these:
the changelog shows chunk moves commanded
the actionlog shows balancer state change history
the settings collection has the balancer state

  10. cert-manager & external-dns integration

Since the kube CA integration is deprecated, the operator should have an option to integrate with cert-manager and external-dns for automatic tls and dns records.

  12. Apply Project Maintenance Windows to Global Alerts

Apply Project Maintenance Windows to Global Alerts

Make the existing Project-level maintenance windows also silence Global alerts associated with the Project.

We have many projects that share the Global Alerts and do not want to turn off all global alerts as we still need that alerting for the projects that are not being worked on.

In combination with the existing API for Project Maintenance Windows, this really allows full control.

  13. Automation web UI - Validate the TLS/SSL settings passed in the UI

It is possible to make all agents in a project fail by setting a wrong CA file value.

For example a customer set in the CA file field a directory instead of a file, and it caused Agents to stop reporting to OM.

    Eg. the montioring module logged:
    {code}
    Error starting new module : <Monitoring Module Manager> [15:25:38.817] Error starting Monitoring module : error parsing settings: map[logFile:/var/log/mongodb-mms-automation/monitoring-agent.log maxLogFileDurationHrs:24 maxLogFileSizeBytes:1048576000 maxProcs:0 mmsApiKey:*** mmsBaseUrl:<a rel="nofollow noreferrer" href="https://api-agents.mongodb.com">https://api-agents.mongodb.com</a> mmsGroupId:yyyy sslTrustedServerCertificates:/opt/mongodb/db1/pki version:10.19.2.6597]. 14. Make the option of "security.TransitionToAuth" available through Ops Manager Advanced Configuration Options

Currently the option of "security.TransitionToAuth" is not available in Ops Manager as "transitionToAuth" is automatically added to each node in a rolling fashion by the Automation agent and then ultimately removed when authentication is finally turned on for all nodes.

Allowing this option through Ops Manager will enable the mongod to accept and create authenticated and non-authenticated connections to and from the connected clients. Thus the clients can use this feature to avoid downtime at their end while the connection settings are updated to use the appropriate user to connect to mongod.

  15. Attain granularity on the Ops manager backups & restore

Backups:Under a project, in a single cluster we may deploy multiple databases which belongs to different applications that are somehow interlinked in terms of their functionality. Different databases requires different backup strategies, retention periods, and so different snapshot schedules. However, the level of granularity on Ops Manager "Continuous Backup" doesn't match the above requirement.

Restore: How could we restore a single collection, or a database without touching the other databases/collections within a cluster? The restore process that we have today seems to be restoring the whole cluster and not to the level of database/collection. Queryable backup snapshot seems to be…

  16. Start MongoDB Agent service (`mongodb-mms-automation-agent.service`) automatically after OS restart, make it default behavior

What is the problem that needs to be solved? MongoDB Agent service (mongodb-mms-automation-agent.service) does not start (by default (disabled; vendor preset: disabled)) automatically after OS reboot.

Why is it a problem? (the pain) OS restarts can be frequent, and current default behavior (disabled; vendor preset: disabled) of MongoDB Agent not to start after OS restart causing additional downtime for customers.

    It would be perfect,

Yes, I know, MongoDB provides this information for professional certified developer, but

Why not for the certificate of completion?

  18. Introduce Helm Chart for MongoDB, MongoDBUser and secrets

Provide a helm chart that deploys MongoDB, MongoDBUser, secrets and all other resources needed.

The goal is to simplify the deployment of a MongoDB instance and everything that comes with it down to a helm one-liner.

  19. GUI for Queryable Snapshots

It would be good to have a GUI created for the queryable snapshot interface so less experienced users, that may not have any mongod experience, can successfully restore a collection/document without additional training.

Ideally, the feature allows for the creation of some subset of documents using a query building tool (even collection level would be acceptable) that can then be pushed to a target environment automatically or pushed to a mongodump file that can be used as a restore tool later. Their primary concern is just to ensure that individuals without direct mongod experience or server access can generate a…

  20. Add hostname/port attributes into all Cluster/Replica Set alert types

What is the problem that needs to be solved? Add hostname/port attributes into all Cluster/Replica Set alert types generated via SNMP Alert Traps, Ops Manager's Public API calls (Project/Global Alerts) and Alert Webhooks (Project/Global Alerts).

Why is it a problem? (the pain) Hostname/port attributes are currently missed in Cluster/Replica Set alert types and we only provide a name of the Cluster/Replica Set for which the alert was generated. Operator who watch Monitoring System (the one that receive Ops Manager Alerts) needs to see hostname/port information of a Shard/Replica Set for which such alert was generated, in order to quickly understand…
