  1. Disable Query Targeting: Scanned Objects / Returned alerts on specific, recurring aggregations.

We run routine, recurring aggregation pipelines (essentially, summing up the values of different categories of transactions) on a 5-minute interval. These aggregation pipelines scan for all objects that match a certain type, then sum the cumulative value of certain values of those objects based on category. This means that we regularly have queries that scan >500,000 objects and consolidate them down to ~12 or so objects that are returned.

In this specific case, I'm alright with the scan/return ratio being very high, and I don't want to be spammed with alerts every five minutes. However, I don't want to disable…

  2. Add the ability for the backup daemon to download and validate snapshots

In order to test snapshots automatically, create a new job type that allows the Backup Daemon to download the snapshot from the snapshot store, then run validate on each collection.

If any collection fails validation, send an alert to the Backup Admin with the list of corrupted data.

  3. mongorestore from metadata

    hi

When start mongorestore, data is restored first.
so, performance is poor, and recovery takes a long time.
would please proceed from the metadata(index) and change it so that it can be restored quickly.

    as-is: data > metadata(index)

    regards,
    park

  5. Allow informational alerts to be sent to PagerDuty

Right now informational alerts can't go to PagerDuty, OpsGenie, or VictorOps. Ideally all alert notifications should go to the same endpoint, even if those alerts are "informational" and no acknowledgement is required.

  6. Sharded Cluster Snapshot Restores - Throttling and Src/Dst Mapping

When restoring a sharded cluster snapshot, provide a means of mapping the source shard replica set names to the target shard replica set names. This will allow users to predictably restore large/small shards to the appropriate target hosts.

Currently, this can be done for sharded clusters with fewer than 10 shards by naming the shards in a predicable shard## pattern. However, greater than ~10 shards leads to an alphabetical => alphanumeric restore plan (e.g. shardA10 restores to shardB2).

Restoring large sharded clusters can also overwhelm networks where MongoDB Agents are downloading snapshots from Ops Manager(s) at the same time. Please…

  7. Support rolling rebuild index

In some particular situation indexes need to be rebuild.
It would be nice to support a rolling index rebuild like Ops Manager does for the standard create index.

  8. MongoDB Operator Deployment Env Variables Push Down

This is a feature request to have custom environment variables, configured in the MongoDB Operator's Deployment manifest, push down or propagate to all resources created by the Operator.

For example, it may be desired to add environment variables with context. A more specific example could include setting a TZ timezone environment variable that is automatically added to all pod containers created by the Operator.

  9. Drag and drop

This is strictly cosmetic, but in Ops Mgr Deployment->Processes->deployment, it would be nice to be able to drag-and-drop the order of the servers. I believe it shows them in the order they were added to the replica set, the same as rs.status() or rs.config() would show, but for our deployments, we typically have 2 "main" systems, and then a third "DR" system. It would be great if I could always have our main systems as the first 2 systems, and then our "DR" system last, regardless of how they were added to the replica set. The order they were added…

  10. Update automation config through API without pushing entire config file

For updating any Automation managed parameter, the only method through API is involving pushing the entire Automation config (which is a json file of hundreds lines) with modifications/addition all together.

Even though I just want to update one single value.

Is it a bit dangerous that there may be human mistake when modifying such a large json file. Wrong configuration may be push to the server.

Graceful if there is a feature which allow user to partial update the configuration through API.

  11. The Project Global Admin Agent logLevel settings are redundant and confusing

    As explained here:
    https://docs.opsmanager.mongodb.com/current/tutorial/manage-project-settings/index.html#admin-project-settings

The Ops Manager global admins can override the logLevel setting on a project for Automation and Monitoring Agent modules using the webUI.

This will cause the Agent to override the local config logLevel setting to what's set in the webUI.

Please note that this global admin project setting is redundant as the logLevel of the Agent modules can be also set by using the "Edit custom configuration" window in the project agent settings page as explained here:
    https://docs.opsmanager.mongodb.com/current/reference/mongodb-agent-settings/#configuration-file-settings-locations

  12. Create a User in a Single Cluster

When multiple clusters are added into an Ops Manager project, the only way to create a user account is to add it to all of the clusters in the project and to then add server IP Address restrictions to prevent the user from logging into servers other than the intended cluster. This would still create the user account on all of the clusters in the Ops Manager project.

Users would need a way to create a user account on a specific cluster rather than all of the clusters of the project.

  14. There is currently no way to use the UI to search a given hostname at a Global Level within an Ops Manager deployment.

Please provide a feature in OM so we can search globally a given HOSTNAME to know about its related Organization/Replica Set

  15. As a DBA using Ops Manager, when I make a cluster or project change (eg. enabling LDAP), I'd like to see a "dry run" of potential impact

As a DBA using Ops Manager, when I make a cluster or project change (eg. enabling LDAP), I'd like to see a "dry run" of potential impact like a brief outage so that I will know that this change will have an impact on my end users or not. As of right now, when I make a change, it just happens to all projects/clusters immediately and may create a non-scheduled outage.

  16. I need another level of granularity with RBAC grouping so that only the users of database can see that data.

As a Ops Manager Admin, I need another level of granularity with RBAC grouping so I can have organization, project and subproject permissions. I currently have hundreds of users in a project level and the permissions are too wide.

  17. Ops Manager Prometheus metrics

MongoDB Ops Manager would need to expose endpoints for Prometheus for MongoDB Clusters. There are a number of metrics that popular MongoDB Exporters do not provide, for example:
    1. Enterprise Backup status
    2. Replication Alarms
    3. Agent statuses
    4. A number of Cluster statuses
    etc

There is no way to get this data into Prometheus at the moment

  18. Warn if deploying changes will require a rolling restart

When reviewing changes in automation, warn if deploying changes will require a rolling restart.

As an example, look at [the documentation for server parameters](https://docs.mongodb.com/manual/reference/parameters/). Many parameters include the description "You can only set THIS during start-up", but the the warning that setting this parameter necessitates a restart is missing from Ops Manager (or Cloud Manager).

  19. Allow enable/disable for agent alerts

When we do server patching, we end up receiving agent down alerts for automation, monitoring and backup agents. Those create unnecessary noise and create a real risk of us missing a real alert. We should have ability to disable the agent alerts as part of server shutdown and enable the agent alerts are part of server startup.

  20. Using Ops Manager, Tell me useful information such as "given the current 60 day growth trends, you will run out of space in 2 months"

As a DBA using Ops Manager, I want the system to tell me useful information such as "given the current 60 day growth trends, you will run out of space in 2 months" so that I can do better capacity planning.
