Generate query fails most of the time

What problem are you trying to solve? Focus on the what and why of the need you have, not the how you'd like it solved. In ChatGPT world, no one writes query even in mongodb, current generate query is so lame, we have to use gemini or chatGPt...

A 2026 suggestion: Help developers think, not just query

Hi Charlie , Thanks for the note, and for building Atlas into something many of us rely on daily. I know this question is going out to a huge developer base, so instead of a feature wishlist, I wanted to share one idea that’s been on my mind as a ...

Evolve MongoDB Atlas from a reactive managed database into an intelligent, context-aware platform that understands application intent, schema evolution, workload patterns, and cost impact to proactively guide safe, scalable production decisions

What problem are you trying to solve? Focus on the what and why of the need you have, not the how you'd like it solved. Modern applications evolve continuously, but database platforms primarily react to usage rather than understanding applica...

UUID Schema Validation

It would be very handy to have the ability to specify a schema validator using bson type UUID (binData subtype 4) instead of the more generic binData subtype 0.

Native Support for Date-Only and Time-Only Field Types

### Summary MongoDB currently lacks native field types for **date-only** (e.g., `2025-05-28`) and **time-only** (e.g., `13:45:00`) values. This results in frequent developer confusion, incorrect behavior around time zones, wasted storage, and the...

import/export charts

It would be great if we could import and export the charts somehow. While the drag and drop interface is nice it would be beneficial if we could host it in our code git and test/adjust the aggregations when we change the underlying schema.

Configurable sample size in schema analyzer

Sometimes larger or smaller sampling sizes (default is 1000) are desired since queries are taking too long or the sample size is not statistically useful. Could be a part of progressive loading/sampling.

Simplified JSON support for $out to S3

The ability to $out to S3 from a federated database instance is a game-changer for those working with their own data warehouses and data lakes. One improvement that would make it better would be to support simplified JSON for json exports. Curre...

It would be useful to be able to view a collection schema similar to how you can in Compass

It would be useful to be able to view a collection schema similar to how you can in Compass. At present we have to enable LDAP and configure Compass to remotely connect to Atlas, but this is not always feasible and it would be good to see this use...

Clickable values

One of the biggies missing for charts (from my perspective) is the ability to click and filter by values on the charts. Most BI tools do so and it's an easy and intuitive way to navigate up and down through the data. Similar to what "analyse schem...
