You can now transform documents for Atlas Search, enabling you to index and query Decimal128 fields as a Double. See how here ( https://www.mongodb.com/docs/atlas/atlas-search/transform-documents-collections/#example--add-or-modify-fields ).

Although native support would be better, not to mention simpler, using the new transformation feature certainly seems like it would work - and I intend to try it. But please continue to consider native support. Not supporting ALL number types just seems wrong and arbitrary.

Despite the https://www.mongodb.com/docs/atlas/atlas-search/changelog/#28-june-2024-release notes saying "Updates all indexes to support the sort option for number and date types", this still doesn't work with Decimal128 number types. I thought sorting by numbers and dates already did work, so I was optimistic this meant ALL number types - but no such luck.

I emphasize the necessity of this feature because in my case I have a lot of documents with decimal data type and I would like to use atlas search for this application.

Is there any updates on this? We really need this feature and this is having a huge impact on deciding if we stay mongodb or not.

Our customer is looking for this function, or they won't choose MongoDB at all. Please help to raise the priority.

IHAC will use huge amount of Atlas Search for their ledger, they must use decimals. They are preparing a big event in June 2024, but need to test recently. It's great opportunity for our APAC region if you consider adding this new feature of Decimal 128.

While this feature would be valuable for me, I've had a better idea that would solve it and all kinds of other scenarios as well: https://feedback.mongodb.com/forums/924868-atlas-search/suggestions/47081989-allow-aggregate-pipeline-on-input-documents-before

See also my feature request about type coercion. That would solve this need for me. https://feedback.mongodb.com/forums/924868-atlas-search/suggestions/47049757-data-type-coercion-when-document-field-type-doesn

Agreed. It should work with the new Sort features as well. Although for the purposes of Atlas Search, I would settle for a lossy type coercion to a normal decimal or int64 (depending on the defined representation).

This is extremely important for us to have Atlas Search support for decimal data values such as prices.
