Our organization operates applications serving customers in Vietnam. Due to customer requirements and evolving data residency regulations, certain sensitive and regulated information must be stored within Vietnam rather than in another country.

Currently, MongoDB Atlas does not provide a deployment region within Vietnam, which makes it challenging to meet these requirements while continuing to use Atlas managed services.

What would you like to see happen?

We would like MongoDB Atlas to provide a deployment option in Vietnam, preferably through an AWS Vietnam Region or AWS Hanoi Local Zone integration.

This would allow customers to deploy MongoDB clusters and store sensitive data entirely within Vietnam while continuing to benefit from MongoDB Atlas managed capabilities.

A Vietnam-based deployment option would help organizations satisfy data residency and compliance requirements, reduce operational complexity, and avoid maintaining separate self-managed database infrastructure for sensitive data.

This would also enable customers to continue using MongoDB Atlas as their primary database platform for Vietnam-based workloads.

What steps, if any, are you taking today to manage this problem?

Currently, we store general application data in MongoDB Atlas Singapore and are evaluating separate self-managed databases hosted in Vietnam for sensitive information. This increases architectural complexity, operational overhead, and maintenance effort.
