Adding cluster tier to prometheus metrics

What problem are you trying to solve?

Focus on the what and why of the need you have, not the how you'd like it solved.

Currently we use Grafana to visualise our Atlas metrics. When looking at a dashboard, we are unable to tell what resources that cluster has, and if it underwent a scaling event at any point.

What would you like to see happen?

Describe the desired outcome or enhancement.

Cluster tier information (M10, M20 etc), and possibly even resource allocation metrics such as provisioned IOPS exported

Why is this important to you or your team?

Explain how the request adds value or solves a business need.

To be able to correlate metrics with provisioned resources, and scaling events.

What steps, if any, are you taking today to manage this problem?

We currently need to navigate to MongoDB Atlas console to check this information
