Grouped bar charts in Atlas cost explorer

What problem are you trying to solve?

Focus on the what and why of the need you have, not the how you'd like it solved.

I'd like to get a rough idea of how my Atlas costs for each service type - compute, storage, backup, network, etc. - are changing month to month. So I can get an idea of how changes to cluster configuration or usage patterns are affecting that. A graphical visualization like a chart would be nice, especially for incorporating in to presentations to management.

What would you like to see happen?

Describe the desired outcome or enhancement.

In the Atlas web interface's Billing > Cost Explorer tool, I'd like the option to see a "grouped" bar chart, like Azure and AWS's cost explorer tools have. A grouped bar chart is where each component/value for the "group by" dimension/aspect is displayed as a separate bar starting from the y-axis origin within the group for each month - in addition to the current format of a stacked bar chart, where the bars for a month are stacked vertically on top of one another, each bar starting at the top of the previous bar. Easier to eyeball the relative height of the per-component bars that way if they are all starting at the origin, instead of offset vertically due to the changing sizes of the bars beneath them.

Why is this important to you or your team?

Explain how the request adds value or solves a business need.

Quick visualization of cost components to evaluate whether our configuration changes are effective.

What steps, if any, are you taking today to manage this problem?

Nothing now. If I end up really needing this, I'll export our cost data and produce a chart using a different charting tool. It would just be convenient to have this readily available within the in-Atlas cost explorter.
