Configurable notification or banner system within the Atlas UI

What problem are you trying to solve?

Focus on the what and why of the need you have, not the how you'd like it solved.

Hello,

As a MongoDB Atlas customer and platform owner, I would like to share a feature suggestion based on a concrete operational need we are facing.

Today, as the administrator of our MongoDB Atlas platform, we do not have a native way to communicate important messages directly to our end users when they log in to Atlas (either at the organization level or, ideally, at the project level).

The idea would be to have a configurable notification or banner system within the Atlas UI that allows platform administrators to display custom messages to users upon login or navigation. These messages could be:

Informational (e.g. “Happy New Year”, “Welcome to the platform”)

Operational (e.g. “Cluster maintenance scheduled”, “Upcoming version upgrade”)

Preventive or advisory (e.g. “Please review resource usage”, “Security recommendations”)

From a functional perspective, such a feature could include:

Scope selection (organization-level and/or project-level)

Message type (static banner or scrolling message)

Customizable visibility period (start/end date)

Optional severity level (info / warning / critical)

This capability would significantly improve communication, governance, and user awareness, especially in environments where MongoDB Atlas is used as a shared SaaS platform by multiple teams or customers.

I believe this kind of native communication mechanism would add strong value for enterprise customers and platform owners.

Thank you for taking this feedback into consideration. I would be happy to discuss this idea further if needed.

Best regards,
