Double-click on a favourite in the side bar to quickly connect
As a user of two or more favourites, and who cycles between them both frequently, I would like the ability to double-click on the favourite connection in the sidebar so I can quickly connect to the connection. This would speed up my journey from disconnecting from one connection > clicking on the favourite for the other connection > scrolling down to click the primary "connect button" > connecting. With it I could simple double-click to connect.

I'm excited to share that we released a change in version 1.43.3 that prevents a modified aggregation tab from being closed by accident. Please let us know if you continue to have issues related to losing work when navigating within Compass.

Make it work
The window app is soooooo slow....
it takes forever to startup... and I have a very good workstationPlus, I upgraded now to 1.20.5 version and NONE of my connections work anymore... they ALL timeout at 30000ms :/
I will have to downgrade it
8 votesFrom compass 1.29 on, we changed how plugins are bundled and loaded, which resulted in a much faster startup time.
I am not sure what was going on with the connections, but please reply to this email and let me know if it’s still an issue with the most recent version of Compass.

I wish to accelerate connection to a deployment (favorite) by specifying it on the command line
I'd like just to know if it's possible to start Compass connecting to a specific MongoDB passing a name of my favorites by args from command line
8 votesThis functionality became available in Compass 1.34.0.

Text based pipeline mode
I know you can import the pipeline from a language but I want to completely disable GUI pipeline builder and just have a text editor. The UI is too slow and clunky, just give me a text editor to directly edit and run an aggregate.
6 votesThis feature is available in our latest Compass release, 1.35.0.

There must be an option to create text indexes from MongoDB compass GUI.
In MDB compass GUI, there is no option available for creating a text index on a collection. It must be introduced so that one can create all types of indexes from GUI itself.

Compass support more languages for "Export Query To Language"
https://twitter.com/MongoDB/status/1267452775421685760
Currently it only supports 4 languages, Java, Node, C# and Python3. I would love to see in more languages, especially Go
This is very useful when used with aggregation pipeline builder. Productivity x100
6 votesWe now added support for Ruby, Go and Rust.

Make the filter editor expandable to multiple lines
Problem: The filter edit is a 1 line text box. It is no good for creating and editing queries with multiple terms... you can only see a small part of the query
Solution: make the filter edit expandable, so you can see 1 line or many lines.
5 votesWith Shift + Enter you can go to a new line.

Resize input field within Aggregation-Editor
It would be great, if there would be an option to resize the input-fields within Aggregation-Editor

Open new collection tab when selecting a new collection and editing an aggregation
When you are editing an aggregation (aggregtion was not yet saved) and select another collection, do not change the collection you are working on with the new collection. Instead open a new tab with the selected collection
4 votesI'm excited to share that we released a change in version 1.43.3 that prevents a modified aggregation tab from being closed by accident when opening a new collection tab.

TAB AUTOCOMPLETE
Add to option to assign tab to autocomplete like has been in every other code editor for the last decade
4 votesTab can be used to perform autocomplete; this functionality has existed in Compass since v1.36.4.

Don't query entire collection on connection
In large collections, there is no need to immediately query the entire collection. Either change this to query only the first 20 entries by default, or stop querying one connection. This would improve the connection experience greatly.
4 votesWith Compass 1.30 we improved the experience by:
- no longer loading all the db and collection stats when connecting
- no longer waiting for the document count to load before displaying the first 20 documents and running the count operation asynchronously instead

Allow customers to copy a pretty print formatted json
Currently when copying a document from MongoDB compass, the copy button will put the stringified json onto your clipboard. However, the text that is copied omits whitespace. As such, if I want to make the json more human parsable, I need to visit a website like jsonformatter, paste the document, then recopy the cleaned json doc.
Would be nice if we could specify whether to copy w/ or w/o whitespace formatting.3 votesA little late to update the portal, but the copy button started including whitespace to enabling pasting pretty print formatted JSON a long time ago. I hope that the users who upvoted this item have found that improvement to be helpful! Please let us know if you have any more feedback.

Ability to disable plugins
I don't use a bunch of the plugins that ship by default with Compass, and I don't see any way to disable them in the UI. Loading all of them can be quite slow.
3 votesMost of the plugins are necessary for Compass to function correctly and it’s a bit difficult to support enabling and disabling them. However, plugins are now bundled differently and they don’t slow down Compass at startup anymore.

Rename connection
After cloning a connection, it has the same name with "(copy)" appended. But in my favorites list it is now impossible to differentiate, and there is no way currently to rename a connection.
