Hiding the sidebar for more working area
I suggest that it is possible to hide the sidebar, when working with a limited resolution laptop, mongodb compass takes 70% of the screen, which only leaves 30% to refer to documentations.

Identify well known ids
Our system has several well know ids. For example, we have several user roles that are the same in every tenant database. It would be nice to be able to configure Compass with a list of ids and identifying information that would be shown on hover when they turn up.1 vote -
Drill-through Navigation Between MongoDB Collections
Enable drill-through navigation between collections based on references (e.g., ObjectId). This feature allows users to easily explore related documents across collections by clicking on reference fields, automatically displaying linked data without additional queries.
Benefits:
Simplified Exploration: Quickly navigate between related documents.
Enhanced UX: Seamless data browsing without manual lookups.1 vote -
Tabs are too easy to close, X should always be visible
It's too easy to close collection tabs at the moment with the most recent update. I should be able to click almost anywhere on my tab to navigate, not 1/4 or 1/5 being overtaken by an "X" that only appears on hover.

Option to turn off the multiple connections in a single window feature
With the recent update to multiple connections in a single window, I have found that it can be confusing when you have the same database open for test and prod. Please add an option to turn off the feature allowing multiple connections in a single window for those of us who do not want the new feature.

Refresh button on the database
Add a refresh button beside the + and >-
Maybe throw in a keyboard shortcut too like Ctrl + F5 or Ctrl + R2 votes -
Allow people to add password protected
It would be fantastic to allow people to make MongoDB Compass password protected as therefore it can be way more safer to actually enter the database itself.
In my personal perspective, I think it's a good idea!

Remove Non-Genuine MongoDB warning popup completely or show it only once
Remove the "Non-Genuine MongoDB" warning popup completely or show it only once at the first connection as it can be very annoying always to have to click "OK" every time I connect to the DBs

Compass: "Report a bug" feature is itself broken. Also autocomplete is not usable.
Going to help -> Report a Bug redirects me to this page: https://jira.mongodb.org/projects/COMPASS/summary
Which shows a licensing error and does not let me report a bug. The irony, it burns. The error message is:
This gadget cannot be displayed on your dashboard. This could be due to a licensing problem or an application error. If you need this gadget, contact your administrator for assistance. Otherwise, you can remove it from your dashboard.
Also, the new feature that shows old queries is incredibly intrusive, and constantly replaces what I'm trying to type with something old and wrong. I am not always…

Make "Sync with OS" the default theme (instead of light theme which doesn't make any sense since there is sync with OS)

Copy many documents at once as JSON
I'd like to be able to copy many documents at once n a JSON format. Today, I need to export all output documents for my aggregation pipeline or my query, or I need to manually copy multiple documents one-at-a-time. Ideally, I could copy many documents at the same time to my clipboard without needing to export to a separate file.

Timer in compass
When I run explain, I want to have a timer showing me the time elapsed since I executed the query. It will help me understand my latency delays and also a rough time estimation when I forgot to use explain

Add an easy way to copy field value
Add an easy way to copy field value to the clipboard - a small button near each field that only appears on hover, or right-click to a field with options - copy field value, copy field name, copy "field: value".

Retain side bar sizing
It would greatly enhance the UI to have the sidebar retain its size, i.e. if I drag it to make it wider to fit my collection names comfortably, it should ideally retain and restore that size.
It would also be extremely useful to have the ability to close all active tabs at once. I sometimes have multiple tabs open. As a workaround, I exit Compass and restart it without having to close each individual tab. But then the sidebar issue comes at play.

Self-hosted version of compass
Since compass frontend is web, it would be great to be able to self host it on a server, to access it directly in browser.
The idea is to be able to work from devices that can't install electron, like iPadOS, android directly in browser or as PWA.

Native Windows arm64 support
Windows on arm64 is getting quite a lot of traction lately, with multiple vendors launching new Snapdragon-powered laptops. Would be cool to see MongoDB Compass runnning on these processors natively.

flatpack
Hi,
I have noticed in the documentation that compass .deb is for Ubuntu (is Debian not supported officially?),
But as Debian (the distro I use), there are thousands of other distros unsupported.
So I suggest to pack everything with flatpack (or, at least AppImage), since it is a portable format valid for all distros.Regards

vertical monitor half-snap width
When I use Windows 11's "Snap to Half Screen" on a vertically-oriented monitor, about 2 inches of the Compass window are cut off-screen on the right, including the red X to close the window.
Most apps don't have this issue. In fact, of all my apps, Compass is the only one with the problem.
Also, Compass does not show this problem when I snap to full screen. In that case it shrinks the width properly to fit.

Add settings to have query options expanded by default and pick a view
I never send a query without having to expand this section. It adds a step to every single opertaion, which is tiresome. It save about three lines of space. It would save a lot of time and be less annoying if there was an option to just leave this section open by default. I also alwyas want to display the data as table rows instead of josn or documents. Same deal here, it would be nice not to be forced to use the deafult MongoDB idea here - the views are available already so it would be nice to save…
