  1. Expo support

It would be great if we could use "MongoDB Realm" with Expo (expo.io).

I understand that the React Native SDK would be hard to integrate therefore the Web SDK for MongoDB Realm would be the ideal integration choice.

Many people use Firebase/Firestore's Web SDK with Expo, enabling the MongoDB Realm Web SDK to work with Expo in the same way would allow many Expo apps to use MongoDB Realm.

  2. Have live tool migration re-establish connectivity with on-prem cluster in case of connection failures

While trying out Live Migration tool for data transfer from our on-prem cluster to Atlas, we had an issue where Atlas ran into connectivity issues with the on-prem cluster with respect to Live Migration tool. As the tool couldn't re-establish connectivity with on-prem cluster, we had to cancel migration and initiate data sync all over again. While this is fine for a small cluster, this can't be feasible for a large PROD cluster where we have 20+ shards and with data volume in order of 40-50TB compressed size.

So, even if there is a network disconnect or any maintenance happening…

  3. Clarify Python vs PyMongo

When connecting to a Atlas cluster and selecting to connect via a Application you can select to connect with what "Driver" where you can select "Python".

For new users, they might think that the Python library (https://www.python.org/doc/versions/) is what is being referenced when in reality Atlas is referring to the PyMongo Driver.

For clarity, alter the UI from "Python" to "PyMongo" or "Python (PyMongo)" or something similar to differentiate between Python and PyMongo.

  4. private link - common dns suffix

when creating a private link, the resulted dns for the cluster is in the form of "cluster-pl-.{somerandomstring}.mongodb.net"
the only difference from the public endpoint is the 'pl' addition in the first section.

in order to configure the vpn wildcards and rules,
it can be extremely helpful to have this separation more general, for example
    cluster.{randomstring}.pl.mongodb.net -- private links
    cluster.{random
    string}.mongodb.net -- public

that way we can use the wild card *.pl.mongodb.net to differentiate and route the traffic accordingly

  5. Hosting Atlas on DigitalOcean

In addition to AWS, Azure and GC, give an option to host on DigitalOcean. DigitalOcean has a really cheap and well-made Kubernetes system that requires VPC because container IPs are always changing, and I would want them to connect to Atlas without having to just open Atlas to whitelist every IP.

  6. Creating cluster specific network Access rules

I am running several clusters while one of them is for the main product we run extras to have consistent data between our test deployments issue is while we are running we change or deploy multiple servers and adding all these servers one by one for testing is not convenient not to mention we use our personal computers as well so we are opening a connection from all IP addresses. When we do that our main server also opens for every IP address which is not good.

  7. Integrate Netework Access IP Whitelist with GitHub Actions

I'm trying to setup CI for my project using GitHub actions, while restricting Network Access. The problem is that GitHub's machines have weekly changing IPs: https://help.github.com/en/actions/reference/virtual-environments-for-github-hosted-runners#ip-addresses-of-runners-on-github-hosted-machines

Is there any way to automatically integrate that list of IPs in the Network Access IP Whitelist? This feature would benefit all users of GitHub Actions.

  8. readPreferenceTag flexibility in Atlas

Looking to get more flexibility to target electable nodes and the workload isolation nodes. Some ideas are to allow for custom tags or having tags that allow for targeting read-only and electable nodes together. This allows for users use the read-only nodes to scale out reads along side the electable secondaries without having to juggle multiple connection strings.

  9. Project Homepage / Ability to add descriptions to Atlas projects

We have a lot of Atlas projects in our org, some are outdated, unused, orphaned, some important and used for production. It would be great to have a way to describe what each of them are for, who to contact for questions, etc.

For example, when you switch to a project, you land on the project homepage that has the description right there, alongside an overview of how many clusters, users, last change, if whitelists are enabled etc. Even better if I can use Markdown or some other "rich" editing experience to create the description and add links, bullet points,…

  10. Fix a glitch in the web app's UI

Just pointing out a little glitch in the UI:
When we have very long values, the key is invisible and the field type is pushed to the side.

  12. Add Support for AD/LDAP Token Groups

This is a request to add support for the Token Groups LDAP attribute included in Active Directory’s LDAP implementation:

       https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/win32/adschema/a-tokengroups

Currently Atlas/Mongo only supports looking up group membership from queries against the user object in LDAP (typically by looking at the “memberOf” attribute). This attribute does not include groups to which a user is a member via nested groups (being in a group that is also a member of another group). An LDAP filter can be added to the user group lookup which uses recursive filters to find all groups, however, that approach has the following problems:

    • Recursive lookups are…

  13. Heroku Atlas Plugin

Since mongo lab https://docs.mlab.com/mlab-to-atlas/ is acquired by mongo, and migration to Atlas is recommended.

We need Heroku Plugin for mongo Atlas, as promised on https://docs.mlab.com/mlab-to-atlas/ page FAQ section.

My company is planning some big projects on heroku and having a plugin would make our lives much easier.

Is there any ETA on this plugin delivery date?

Since the set goal of migrating mongo lab users to Atlas is start of 2020 Heroku mongo lab users should have easy option to do it soon.

  14. MongoError: user is not allowed to do action [listCollections] on [db.]

NodeJS mongodb driver (with or without mongoose) needs to "listCollections" before "createCollection"

But "listCollections" and "createCollection" are in different "rights list" for custom role (look screenshots)

In this case "createCollection" in "Collection Actions" has no sense without "listCollections" from another rights scope "Database Actions and Roles" and user with "createCollection" ability in fact cannot create collection

It can be fixed with moving "createCollection" and "listCollections" rights into one scope

  17. Push Logs to AWS S3 bucket: IAM role Max_Session expect 12hours

With respect to the feature "Push Logs to AWS S3 bucket " Atlas expect max-session-duration for IAM cross account role is : 43200 (12HRS) by default.
Some organizations like us have limitations on max-session. We reached out MongoDB Support, They said " The Atlas team has confirmed that currently, we do not support max session durations of less than 12 hours. However, there is an internal ticket for improvement, where session duration can be internally configurable via MongoDB's internal support UI. Case ref: 01276442

This will provide a flexibility for the organizations to have max-session configured according to their internal…

  19. Export logs to S3 at the organization level rather than project level

Currently if we have to export logs to S3 we need to enable log export to S3 at project level. If I multiple projects then same things needs to be done, there should be an option to send logs to S3 on organization level when setup should send the logs to S3 bucket with path name (projectname+'/'+clustername).
